The Role

We are looking for a Subtitling Intern who’ll support our growing Subtitling Team in a wide range of projects. You will undergo comprehensive training and you’ll learn how to sync, check, conform and create subtitles and captions for our films, gaining valuable hands-on experience. If you are enthusiastic about subtitling, accessibility and independent cinema, we want to hear from you.

You will focus on:

• Acquiring, retiming, converting and conforming of subtitles and closed captions in a number of formats and languages.

• Creation of subtitles and captions from scratch using programs such as Subtitle Edit and Ooona, following company style guides.

• Post-editing and QC of subtitles in your native language.

• Participating in broadening the accessibility coverage across a wide range of content.

• Assisting the Senior Subtitle Manager with a variety of subtitling-adjacent tasks.

What you will bring:

• A background in film and/or languages.

• A passion for subtitling and accessibility and a strong desire to learn and grow in this field.

• An excellent standard of written English. Fluency in a second language, especially French or German, is a plus!

• Excellent attention to detail, and ability to proofread work.

• Willingness to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, and processes and react positively to change.

• Strong organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise work and meeting deadlines.

Details: 

• Time commitment: 3 months (part-time, open to candidate availability)

• Location: UK, remote-first with occasional travel to the London office

• Compensation: monthly stipend (£500)
