Summary: This Assembly Technician performs disassembly, cleaning, refurbishing, assembly, and testing of equipment, as well as prepares equipment for transport.
Time Utilization: Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customer’s schedules as overtime may be required. Nominal travel may be involved.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Perform all manufacturing requirements associated with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, vacuum, and safety on assigned equipment. Assemble and install physical components into fully operational assemblies, many times without the benefit of written assembly instructions.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics of equipment.
- Perform initial inspection of equipment to determine what materials/parts are needed for refurbishment and informs supervisor if materials/parts are not in inventory.
- Adhere to established work schedules and order priorities, and practices efficient time management to meet deadlines.
- Perform work to correct standards of performance, alignment, seals, tensioning, testing, safety, documentation and component integrity.
- Perform equipment unloading, crating, and loading.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment.
- Perform additional production activities as required by the supervisor.
Qualifications:
Education/Experience:
High school diploma and two years of maintenance, manufacturing, or related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Mechanical and engineering aptitude required. Strong electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical skills required. Experience in equipment assembly or remanufacturing preferred.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, write and speak English. Ability to communicate in a team environment. Must be able to interpret and discuss general documents such as dimensional machine layouts, component drawings, written procedures, and product information.
Math Ability:
Speed and feed calculations, Metric and Standard calculations, basic and advanced measuring techniques, Ability to calculate dimensions, percentages, area and volume. Must be able to measure both English and Metric dimensions.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to convert drawings into final assembled and fully operational equipment.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, inventory software, manufacturing software, and ERP systems. CAD/CAM system experience is a plus. Manufacturing experience with SAP is a plus.
Certificates and Licenses:
Current valid driver’s license. Must be forklift certification eligible.
