National Communications Coordinator – National Pastoral Migratoria ®

Position Summary:

Promote the vision of National Pastoral Migratoria (NPM) and support its communications and fundraising efforts to a national audience. Pastoral Migratoria ® (PM) is an immigrant leadership ministry of service, justice and accompaniment in parish communities, that is now in five pilot diocesan sites across the United States. Work in collaboration with our staff team to strengthen NPM’s identity, digital presence and community building and collaborative work among dioceses; and to grow constituent membership and participation in learning events. Support NPM’s digital platforms including database management, website, social media, email and e-newsletters.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the NPM’s brand, including brand integrity and visibility across the organization and working with staff and volunteers on brand and messaging standards.
  • Manage, design, edit, and publish NPM’s print and electronic communications, including e-newsletters, annual reports, fundraising campaigns, and other publications and collateral materials.
  • Work with outside vendors to manage strategy, design, and content development for the NPM website and digital platforms.
  • Serve as quality control and editor for print material and website.
  • Manage strategy, design, and content development for NPM’s website and digital media platforms.
  • Manage marketing and promotion for NPM’s annual National Institute event.
  • Develop, manage, strategize, and monitor all NPM’s social media platforms, including but not limited to LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Facebook.
  • Assist in maintaining an online library of community resources on current issues that are customizable for local areas.
  • Support the development and implementation of the NPM Institute to introduce Immigration Ministry to new dioceses and deepen/strengthen the relationships in existing dioceses.
  • Assist in data gathering and reporting for communication and fundraising as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

*The NPM Office is at the Archdiocese of Chicago.

Public Media & Relations:

  • Promote NPM to the Catholic sector, policymakers, and the public.
  • Develop and manage content, messaging, and storytelling about the immigrant community for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and carry out media strategy, including developing and driving media calendar, media relations, and tracking press coverage.
  • Promote NPM to Catholic dioceses in the U.S. and its staff in the media

Requirements:

  • Must demonstrate understanding, respect, and support for Catholic Church teaching, mission, and values. Hiring preference may be given to candidates who are Catholic.
  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing/PR, or a related field.
  • Fully bilingual (Spanish/English) with strong written and oral communication skills
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in communications/marketing, preferably in a pastoral context; with a personal and/or professional history with immigrant communities
  • Knowledge of immigration issues; committed to social justice and social action
  • Strong skills with mainstream social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and YouTube, as well as videoconferencing
  • A goal-driven “self-starter” with the ability to multi-task, collaborate and adapt to sudden changes/challenges.
  • Demonstrable leadership, strong interpersonal communication, and organizational skills
  • Excellent planning, program, and organizational development skills
  • Proficiency in Office Suite(Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required. Experience with Constituent Relationship Management (CRM) databases and digital and email marketing platforms such as MailChimp or Constant Contact.
  • Willing to travel as needed across the U.S. This position is based in Chicago, IL.
