Job Description Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will support various projects related to the development and industrialization of manufacturing processes in the Edison Works Supply Chain. They will be responsible for maintaining daily operations within the lab with a focus on machine/equipment operation, Environmental Health and Safety, facilities, and various project work. This individual will be self-directed and hands-on with capability to manage multiple tasks within a day, prioritize short term needs requiring immediate attention, and work projects of moderate complexity.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot multiple pieces of equipment within facility to enable delivery of development/prototype hardware, and low-rate production hardware• Coordinate with site Environmental Health and Safety representatives to ensure safe working conditions within the lab including adherence to EHS regulations• Proactively monitor lab facilities daily to maintain successful and efficient operation. Work with GE Facilities team, Union personnel, and outside contractors on facilities issues, improvements, and scheduled maintenance• Lead initiatives focused on operational process improvements and 5S activities• Lead team meetings focused on daily operations, quality, and EHS• Work with engineers to complete assigned projects including development and documentation of process improvements• Develop, author and follow technical plans to meet desired manufacturing objectives• Meet quality system requirements for Aerospace applications• Adhere to a detailed schedule for a complex engineering and / or manufacturing development work scope• Participate on teams assigned to address specific organizational initiatives• Share engineering information, promote open dialogue, and support an inclusive work environment• Assure proper documentation of technical data generated for the assigned projects and/or tasks are consistent with engineering policies and procedures• Maintain currency and compliance with GE policies, procedures and directives, including vouchering, reporting, operating, environmental and safety practicesRequired Qualifications• Bachelor’s Degree accredited college or university (or high school diploma with 3 years of manufacturing experience).• Minimum of 3 years of manufacturing experience.• Must be a US Citizen• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance• Desired Characteristics• Bachelor or Master of Science in Engineering: Electrical, Materials, Biomedical, Mechanical, Systems, or similar• Prior hands-on experience using first principles to develop inspection techniques• Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills• Strong oral and written communication skills• Ability and willingness to support occasional travel• Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn• Transparent: shares critical information, speaks with candor, contributes constructively• Focused: quick learner, strategically prioritizes work, committed • Leadership ability: strong communicator, decision-maker, collaborative• Problem solver: analytical-minded, challenges existing processes, critical thinkerThis role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
