Job Description

The Marketing Paralegal will assist attorneys for Universal Destinations & Experiences, including Universal Studios Hollywood, Universal Horror Unleashed, and Universal Kids Resort, with review of marketing and advertising collateral including press releases, websites, mobile applications, and social media content for compliance with trademarks, rights of privacy/rights of publicity, intellectual property license agreements, and corporate guidelines.  Review of scripts and storyboards for social media, radio and television commercials.  Review and prepare first-draft product and offer terms and conditions, deal memos, and boilerplate marketing contracts including disclosures, promotions/sweepstakes rules and agreements, advertising orders, waivers/releases/indemnity agreements, and other marketing and advertising related agreements, and revise based on attorney and client feedback.  Draft correspondence.  Track deadlines.  Maintain contract files.

This role will assist in monitoring compliance with company-wide policies and initiatives related to customer data, privacy and security.  They act as a first point of contact for general day-to-day inquiries and as a filter to facilitate answers to queries across all internal departments as needed.  They are required to perform additional tasks as directed. 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 to 7 years of in-house experience with a general focus on marketing/advertising, intellectual property and internet-related/privacy matters, preferably in the entertainment industry.   
  • Paralegal Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree from a four year college or university.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate analytical and problem-solving skills within a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail. 
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. 
  • Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.  

Desired Characteristics:

  • Previous experience specifically related to marketing/advertising through digital marketing and social media is a plus.
  • Ability to work independently with little oversight and be able to adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload efficiently and effectively.
  • Team player with a strong orientation toward collaborative, results-oriented environment.
  • High level of professionalism, diplomacy and judgment in order to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Resourceful and a strong work ethic.

This position is eligible for company sponsored benefits, including medical, dental and vision insurance, 401(k), paid leave, tuition reimbursement, and a variety of other discounts and perks.
