NDT Inspector

The BAE Systems site in Norfolk, Virginia, is seeking a NDT Inspector. This position supports in a shipyard environment. Using blueprints reading skills, the NDT Inspector interprets government ABS, Commercial and Boiler Codes standards and documents. Working with limited supervision, the Inspector maintains equipment inventory. Writes condition reports of NDT findings along with recommendations. Interfaces with Trade Supervisors, Ship Superintendents, and Customer Representatives regarding quality issues. Performs and document in-process and final inspections as required by the contract inspection plan. Monitors BAE Systems personnel and subcontractors in-process work and documents deficient work accordingly.

Required Education, Experience, & Skills

• Typically requires a high school diploma, or the equivalent, and be able to perform all NDT functions as a Level II Inspector in Magnetic Particle Inspection, Visual Inspection, Liquid Penetrant Inspection, and Ultrasonic Inspection Thickness;
• Organization skills;
• Attentive to details;
• Excellent communicator;
• Ability to work collaboratively with others;
• Comfortable working in a shipyard environment.

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills

• Shearwave preferred.
