Visual Designer IV (Contract)

At NerdWallet, our mission is to provide people with clarity and confidence to make better financial decisions. Our in-house creative brand studio plays a pivotal role in bringing this mission to life through compelling visual storytelling and innovative content. As a Digital Designer, you will help conceptualize, design, and implement creative solutions to support our design system, digital programs and campaigns. This role will report to the Director of Brand Design.

As a Digital Designer on the Brand Studio team, you will help define, implement, and evolve our brand expression across our digital properties – contributing to programs including CRM, performance marketing, product marketing, and more. You will support Senior team members by helping build and maintain our design systems across landing pages, emails, digital ads, and our overall brand guidelines. With a start-up mentality and your range of skills in visual design, web design, and design systems, you will help our team push the boundaries of what's possible to grow and extend the NerdWallet brand. 

Your center of excellence should be digital design, with experience contributing to design systems, landing page design, digital and social ads, emails, and banners. You will work closely with our Senior Digital Designers and Art Directors to maintain our design system in Figma, build digital templates and creative, design landing pages, and help build in our CMS platform. 

Where you can make an impact: 

  • Contributing to our design system by building components and variants, and expanding on component ideas for landing pages, emails, and ad designs
  • Designing landing pages for campaigns and nerdwallet.com, building in our CMS platform, and collaborating with engineering to QA and bring pages to life
  • Helping prep landing page files to be production ready for development handoff
  • Creating banner ads and digital ads for performance marketing, brand campaigns, and homepage
  • Creating and maintaining design templates for digital creative 
  • Designing email designs using our email design system and proposing testing ideas
  • Partnering with product design to create delightful, branded, user experiences on webpages and within our product experience 

Your experience:

  • 3-5 years of applied design experience, specifically in digital/web design and design systems
  • Excellent foundation of visual design principles (layout, typography, color, hierarchy)
  • Strong experience in Figma, contributing to design systems, creating new components and variants
  • Experience designing for digital channels such as web design, digital ads, social ads, banner ads
  • Proficient in UX/UI principles with a demonstrated ability to apply them effectively across web and mobile design
  • Skilled in attention to detail with a pixel-perfect design approach and a strong focus on systematic thinking
  • Experienced in collaborating closely with engineers on website development and implementation
  • Experience in Figma, and Adobe Creative Suite, interest in illustration a plus
  • Working knowledge of motion graphics and interaction design is a plus

Pay Transparency & Contract Details:

  • The hourly rate for this position is $71/hour
  • This is a W2 contract role hired by Magnit
  • The estimated schedule for this engagement would be 40 hours per week from January-December
  • This role is 100% remote (based in the U.S. or Canada)
