Responsibilities:
Design, implement and manage regional and national multiservice backbone networks that effectively reflect business needs, service-levels, cost and availability requirements
Analyze technical needs, requirements, and provide input, direction, and support to develop new products and services for the company
Assist other engineers with complex network designs and projects
Manage assigned projects to deliver services in accordance with established objectives and technical requirements in a timely and responsive manner
Provide Level III technical assistance to other engineering groups and NOC as necessary.
Develop and execute training of new solutions and services along with new network features to the Network Operations team and various engineering groups
Provides guidance and work leadership to less-experienced network personnel
Participate in network planning by forecasting equipment requirements, comparing cost-benefit alternatives, and making recommendations for capital improvement projects
Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, computer science/engineering or related technical discipline, or 3-7 years of experience with MPLS-based large complex service provider network.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to prioritize time effectively and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and determination while also possessing the ability to work productively in a team setting
Exceptional analytic diagnostic and problem solving skills
Extensive knowledge of and experience with Cisco-based MPLS, L2/L3 VPN, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS, BGP along with L2 technologies.
Advanced knowledge of related industry specifications and standards, MEF and Transport technologies.
