Networking Engineering Intern

Job Purpose:

The Network and Engineering Intern will provide support to the Network Development Team, OSP Planning. The primary role will involve collecting technical data that will assist with Hawaiian Telecom’s Climate Action Plan. Additional tasks may include reviewing schematic, electrical and scale drawings for engineering plans and specifications. Duties may also include updating databases which will include going on site walks to validate plant records. Frequent interaction with Planning and Engineering is required to coordinate related work activities. Performs other related, marginal duties associated with engineering as required.

Essential Functions:

• Access network database, collect and analyze data
• Update various databases and systems
• Draft tracings of engineering job plans and specifications to meet engineers' requirements. Included schematic, electrical and scale drawings of outside plant, land and buildings, switching and transmission system drawings
• Interact and communicate with engineers when necessary to determine drafting requirements
• Perform other related, marginal duties as required

Education:

Four years of High School or equivalent

• Must be enrolled in an Associate’s, Bachelor's or Master's degree program Engineering Technology, Computer Science, or Information Sciences with a technical concentration from a two-year college or university
• Open to college students, must be 18+ years old

Certifications, Accreditations, Licenses:

• Must have a valid driver’s license

Relevant Work Experience:

No experience to 1 year in related field

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Familiar with the use of all applications from the Microsoft Office Suite to create reports, analyzes data, and present information
• Ability to learn to utilize new software applications with little/no training and documentation essential

Pay: $58,898.46 - $152,869.78 per year
