The NPI (New Product Introduction) Manufacturing Engineer will lead engineers in the team to effectively execute on the project milestones. This would often be managing projects that serve the Vehicle Engineering, Product, Safety, Integration Engineering and other teams. Emphasis must be made on the quality of output and speed of execution. The candidate must have long-term vision planning and short-term functional action capability.
Responsibilities
  • Prototype and rapidly assess new technologies and new design approaches to build great products
  • Lead Prototype Engineering activities in a cross-functional team environment working on vehicle prototypes, subassemblies, laboratory test arrangements, special projects, and equipment
  • Design, build, test, and refine prototypes and equipment to solve semi-autonomous mobility
  • Apply engineering and tolerance techniques to high precision design requirements
  • Manage both internal and external resources to engineer, develop and deliver components and prototypes
  • Manage the prototype project planning, resource allocation and execution, interacting with the internal customers and taking ownership of all prototype engineering activities
  • Act as a strong individual contributor as well as lead a small team of Design Engineers
  • Provide design directions and design support to team members, mentoring and developing a team of high performing engineers
  • Create initial documentation for assembly line reproduction and standardization
  • In office position in Northern Denver area

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics Engineering
  • 10 or more years of relevant industry experience in mechanical engineering and electromechanical integration engineering
  • 7+ years experience prototyping
  • 2+ years experience leading a team of prototypers
  • Experience managing people and/or projects that are beyond the scope of mechanical engineering (electrical, software, etc.)
  • Familiarity with the design and validation process, including DFMEAs, PQTs, and other qualification plans
  • Experienced using CAD tools, wire diagrams, schematics
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and thrive in ambiguity
  • Direct experience managing in-house and external resources for prototyping and short-run manufacturing
  • Expertise with GD&T, measuring tools and quality processes including GMP, ISO standards and QMS
  • Experience with industrial material, steels, aluminum, plastics for 3D printing, foams, fiber-reinforced plastics
  • Experience with common prototyping processes, including but not limited to: Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing), CNC machining, welding, grinding, and fabrication, thermal treatments and coatings, fiber reinforced plastic manufacturing


The pay for this position has a salary range of $125,000-$150,000. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and options.
