The New World Symphony (NWS) is a laboratory for generating new ideas about the way music is taught, presented, and experienced. Under the direction of Artistic Director Stéphane Denève, its unique fellowship program trains music school graduates for leadership roles in the field of classical music. Artistic excellence, connection to audiences, engaging communities and entrepreneurial activities are pillars of the experiential curriculum. Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: Marketing Associates play a meaningful role in the organization's efforts to engage with and expand New World Symphony (NWS) concert audiences, both in person and online. Acting as “concert concierges”, Marketing Associates make outbound calls to lapsed subscribers and single ticket buyers to sell traditional subscriptions, “Compose-Your-Own” (CYO) subscriptions and single tickets. The focus of the position is cultivating relationships and selling subscriptions to maximize patron loyalty, increase attendance and likelihood of patrons becoming donors.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of New World Symphony’s educational mission and concert offerings, including the Fellowship program and activities, artistic programming, pricing, venue parking information and seating availability.
  • Make at least ten calls per hour to leads provided by the Senior Director of Audience and Ticket Services with a focus on selling traditional and CYO subscriptions.
  • Cultivate relationships with patrons through these calls to further the goal of growing our subscriber and donor base.
  • Educate audiences on NWS programming and make personalized recommendations based on purchase history and patron interests.
  • Meet or exceed ticket revenue quotas.
  • Abide by New World Symphony customer service standards by providing friendly, helpful and efficient service to all patrons at all times.
  • Relay all patron feedback received on calls to the Senior Director of Audience and Ticket Services for appropriate follow-up as needed.
  • Keep current and pristine records of all calls, ticket sales and patron data updates.
  • Process confidential information with care and discretion.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or GED and previous outbound phone sales or customer service experience required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Must be willing to commit to 20-28 hours per week to make calls.
  • Comfortable with being on the phone for long periods of time.
  • Possess exemplary written and verbal communications skills.
  • Exemplify strong listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to navigate uncertainty with tact and patience.
  • Willingness to work under a revenue quota and hourly rate plus commission-based compensation structure.
  • A quick learner and possess a keen attention to details.
  • Knowledge of classical music is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Tessitura software is preferred.
  • Passion for the mission of the New World Symphony.
