Job Description:
B-Side by Boston Globe Media is a new hyper-local daily newsletter delivering the most engaging and culturally-relevant stories to Bostonians. The publication informs, connects, and entertains Millenials and Gen-Z audiences Monday through Friday via a daily newsletter and social channels.
B-Side is seeking a writer who will brainstorm, report, write, and coordinate Greater Boston’s most engaging and relevant local daily newsletter. The ideal candidate is a dynamic creative writer and storyteller deeply ingrained in Boston’s cultural fabric. The candidate will be responsible for creating and executing an editorial plan, alongside the Head of Content, for how to inform, excite, and delight Bostonians through original, user-generated, and contributor content across multimedia platforms. This person will write to fit the publication’s established identity, voice, and tone.
The writer’s primary focus will be producing and managing content for B-Side’s daily newsletter. They should possess a knack for seeking out the most buzzworthy topics in the community, as well as conducting original reporting. The writer should be able to efficiently and effectively break down and explain local stories and events and have experience reporting on topics that allow Millenial and Gen-Z audiences to live smarter, including categories like personal finance, mental health, and work life.
