Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Budget Director of the Orleans School Board, the Financial Analyst assist with the preparation of the annual District Level Formula Allocation and monitor enrollment populations for the various student populations within NOLA Public Schools.


Annual Salary Range

$50,400 - $78,735


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assists the Senior Finance Support Officer & Budget Director with the development, execution, and management of annual budgets for state compliance and budget publication in comparison to incoming state and local revenues;
  • Assists with audit preparation as needed;
  • Processes and finalizes budget forms for state law compliance;
  • Manages and connects large datasets to help understand and communicate insights about our students, teachers, schools, and system
  • Complies with federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and OPSB policies and procedures in relation to student funding
  • Identifies current or potential issues through regular analysis of data, budgets, and other financial forms, and provides solutions;
  • Develop materials and visualizations to communicate data trends to stakeholders regarding enrollment trends, local revenue trends in addition to the state of Louisiana’s Minimum Foundation Program updates.
  • Analyzes monthly budgeting and accounting reports to communicate expenditure controls;
  • Assists with coordination and process development of capital, enterprise, and special revenue budget board approvals;
  • Reviews the Budget Model for calculation errors and provides recommendations to the Budget Director
  • Collaborates with external partners to further data efforts in system planning, and school portfolio investment strategies.
  • Performs other duties as required.


Education and Experience
  • At least an Associate’s Degree in Business, Finance or Accounting, or a in a related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience of professional relevant experience.  


Other Knowledge, Skills or Abilities Required
  • Proficient Microsoft Office skills required in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access. 
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines and standard accepted practices.


$50,400 - $78,735 a year

Salaries are determined by educational background and/or relevant years of experience.

- Required to use motor coordination with finger dexterity (such as keyboarding, machine operation, etc.) part of the workday; 

- Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 30 pounds rarely; 

- Required to be exposed to physical occupational risks (such as cuts, burns, exposure to toxic chemicals) rarely; 

- Required to be exposed to physical environment which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements rarely; 

- Normal setting for this job is an office/school setting.     


Performance Evaluation

The employee will be evaluated based on the above position using either two methods: via COMPASS or a NOLA-PS evaluating instrument. If the employee holds an Educational Leadership certification, he/she will be evaluated via COMPASS to ensure renewal of certification.
