Job Description

The Technology Vendor Management Office (TVMO) at Nordstrom is a strategic function focused on optimizing technology supplier relationships and aligning them with the company’s vision.  TVMO aims to be a key partner driving Nordstrom's success through supplier innovation, cost optimization, and strategic partnerships.

As a Program Manager Tech 1, you will play a pivotal role in achieving TVMO’s mission by managing programs and projects that optimize supplier partnerships, enhance innovation, and drive cost efficiency. You will work across departments and functional teams to ensure technology solutions deliver measurable business value. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, builds strong relationships, and proactively drives results across multiple functions.

A day in the life...
 

Strategic Vendor Management

• Collaborate with vendors to ensure Nordstrom engages only the best-fit, right-cost suppliers.
• Build and deepen partnerships with suppliers to proactively introduce innovation into Nordstrom’s technology ecosystem.
• Develop and maintain supplier scorecards and performance metrics to evaluate outcomes and ensure alignment with Nordstrom’s goals.
   

Program & Project Management

• Independently manage small to moderate programs and projects, using program management standards and principles to meet business needs.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to streamline hardware and software procurement processes, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and leveraging platforms like ServiceNow for enhanced efficiency and transparency.
• Monitor approvals and track program milestones to ensure timely delivery.
   

Cost Optimization & Spend Management

• Identify and eliminate waste in technology supplier spend through data analysis, negotiations, and process improvements.
• Partner with procurement teams to negotiate cost-effective contracts and align investments with Nordstrom’s strategic objectives.
   

Consultative Stakeholder Engagement

• Serve as an internal consultant to Nordstrom teams, enabling them to adopt best practices and make informed technology investment decisions.
• Act as a bridge between internal customers and technology suppliers, ensuring alignment on requirements and expectations.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing across teams to maximize supplier capabilities.
   

Innovation Enablement

• Work with strategic suppliers to identify new technologies and solutions that align with Nordstrom’s goals.
• Foster a culture of collaboration by encouraging suppliers to proactively share innovative ideas tailored to Nordstrom’s needs.
• Stay current with emerging technology trends and industry best practices to introduce fresh perspectives to the organization.
   

Risk Mitigation & Governance

• Ensure supplier compliance with Nordstrom’s legal, regulatory, and operational standards.
• Mitigate risks associated with vendor performance, data security, and contractual obligations through proactive planning and oversight.
   

You own this if you have...

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience in program management, vendor management, procurement, or a related role within the technology sector.
• Proven ability to identify opportunities for cost optimization and drive measurable results.
• Strong understanding of IT products, services, and contracts.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships with both internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Proficiency with tools such as MS Office, SharePoint, Jira, and ServiceNow.
• Experience using data-driven approaches to report status, track performance, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
• Ability to navigate through ambiguity, think strategically, and execute tactically.
• A customer-obsessed mindset with a focus on delivering business value.
• Familiarity with modern IT ecosystems, including cloud technologies, APIs, open-source platforms, and SaaS technologies is a plus.
• Knowledge of engineering and product lifecycle processes, such as task estimation, feature design, and triage is a plus.

Pay Range Details

The pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.

Washington: $88,500-$162,500 annually

This position may be eligible for performance-based incentives/bonuses. Benefits include 401k, medical/vision/dental/life/disability insurance options, PTO accruals, Holidays, and more.
