Business Development Manager - Plasmid DNA Services

At Novel Bio, we are a team of DNA experts, artists, and problem solvers who saw a biotech bottleneck and decided to fix it. Our proprietary NBx platform delivers high-yield, high-purity plasmid DNA—the critical foundation for fast-growing markets in cell and gene therapies, RNA therapeutics, and vaccines.

Now, we’re looking for a Business Development Manager who can connect biotech innovators with the DNA solutions they need to change lives. If you’re passionate about science, thrive in fast-moving environments, and care as much as we do about making a real impact, this is your opportunity. We’re looking for a strategic and technically fluent Business Development Manager to drive growth in our plasmid DNA services. If you have experience selling technical services to biotech companies—particularly in the gene therapy, mRNA, or synthetic biology space—and are excited to build something from the ground up, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

What You’ll Do

With support from our Head of Business Development, lead the full-cycle business development process—from prospecting and quoting to closing deals and managing long-term client relationships.

Identify and engage new clients in gene and cell therapy, mRNA therapeutics, synthetic biology, and vaccine development who need high-quality plasmid DNA suitable for preclinical and early clinical applications

Maintain a quarterly goal of generating 30–50 new leads and converting 3–5 into long-term customers.

Educate potential clients on our capabilities and how our approach to plasmid manufacturing can accelerate their timelines and streamline their workflows.

Collaborate with technical teams to develop customized proposals and pricing models that align with customer needs and program timelines.

Provide feedback on evolving customer needs to help shape service development and innovation.

Refine internal tools and processes for quoting, CRM, and lead generation.

Represent the company at relevant industry events (~25% travel) and conferences.

Who You Are

You have a background in molecular biology, synthetic biology, or a related life sciences field. BS, MS, or PhD strongly preferred.

You understand common applications and manufacturing requirements for plasmid DNA, including use in AAV/viral vector production, mRNA therapeutics, and CRISPR/Cas9 workflows.

You’ve spent 3-5+ years in a business development or technical sales role at a CDMO, CRO, or biotech service provider.

You bring an existing network in biotech or gene therapy with needs in plasmid DNA and are comfortable navigating technical discussions with scientists, program managers, and procurement teams.

You enjoy building relationships and take a consultative approach to uncovering needs and offering solutions.

You are highly self-motivated, results-driven, and thrive in environments where you can help build the plane while flying it.

You’re collaborative, coachable, and not afraid to dive into the details when needed.
