Overview:
The Cashier I is responsible for operating cash register, obtaining cash from department vault, counting money at end of shift; attending and performing miscellaneous related duties.

Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Operates cash register.

Collects payment from customers and gives change.

Obtains change as required during workday following department procedures.

Obtains cash from department vault; places cash and change in appropriate slots in cash register drawer.

Counts money at end of shift; places amount assigned as permanent bank funds in money bag; takes money bag and envelope containing remaining money to department vault following specified procedures.

Attends and participates in cafeteria meetings.

Performs miscellaneous cleaning and stocking.
Qualifications:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

High school graduate or equivalent.

One month experience to develop speed and accuracy.

Ability to operate cash register and coin changer.
MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement. Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.
