Requisition Id 13537Overview:Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Protocol Coordinator to join our Protocol team. This role plays a crucial part in facilitating the success of our projects by providing efficient support and ensuring the smooth operation of lab-wide events and activities.Major Duties/Responsibilities:• Directly supports objectives of the Office of Community Engagement and Protocol and reports to the Manager.• Provides efficient and effective logistical planning for Lab-wide activities with fine attention to detail and proper planning.• Produces successful events that achieve the goals and outcomes established by key Laboratory internal and external stakeholders and ensures a favorable image and attitude toward the Laboratory and its programs.• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders and external partners through clear and timely communication.• Prepare and distribute project-related documents, reports, briefers, bios, etc. when necessary.• Ensure continuity of operations by handling urgent matters and prioritizing tasks effectively.• Thinks creatively to deliver solutions and takes initiative to make decisions under pressure.• Exercise discretion with confidential matters.• Ensures compliance with Department of Energy policies and procedures.• Deliver ORNL’s mission by aligning behaviors, priorities, and interactions with our core values of Impact, Integrity, Teamwork, Safety, and Service. Promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility by fostering a respectful workplace – in how we treat one another, work together, and measure success.Basic Qualifications:• BS/BA degree in Communications, Event Planning, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a related field.• Two years of related experience in event management, community engagement, etc.Preferred Qualifications:• Experience in a scientific, research, or government environment.• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills resulting in positive, productive interactions with external and internal contacts at all levels, including senior Laboratory management and distinguished visitors.• Proficiency in event management software (e.g. SmartSheet, Asana, Trello) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint).• Proven experience in an administrative support role, preferably in a project management environment.• Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently.• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.• Attention to detail and accuracy in handling administrative tasks.• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.Work Directors and Interfaces:• This position will report to the ORNL Protocol and Community Engagement Manager in the Communications and Community Engagement Directorate and will support directorate needs beyond community engagement, including protocol -related visits and events, and STEM outreach activities, as well as general communications needs.Visa Sponsorship:• Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Benefits at ORNL:ORNL offers competitive pay and benefits programs to attract and retain talented people!
