Our Chicago based employees are hybrid, and expected to be in office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Brief summary of role:

Obie is looking for enthusiastic, talented, full stack software engineers (React, GraphQL, Node.js) to join us to build our product, our team, and our company.

What you'll do:

• Write high-quality, high-performing, maintainable code
• Write automated tests for your code
• Design, develop and support software including applications, databases and APIs
• Coordinate cross-functionally to insure projects meet business objectives and compliance standards
• Support testing, quality assurance and deployment of new products and features
• Write and review code specifications and participate in code reviews

What you'll bring:

• Experience with React, Node.js, Typescript, relational databases, and unit/integration testing
• Experience with Agile or Scrum software development methodologies
• Ability to multitask, organize, and prioritize work
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work with distributed team members
• Bachelor's degree (Computer Science or related field) preferred, but not required
• 2+ years of relevant work experience

1. Meet us and get to know Obie

You'll first talk to Kara on a 30-minute call to determine whether we’re a good fit for one another. You’ll learn more about Obie and have the chance to ask about our company, team, culture, and product.

2. Meet a Member of the Engineering Leadership team

You'll get to have a 45 minute video interview with one of our Engineering leaders. This discussion will be more technical in nature to ensure you have the skills needed to be successful in the role.

3. Take Home Coding Challenge

This role requires strong technical and problem solving skills. You’ll be provided a take home challenge to build a small application using react and node.js. We'll be looking to see your problem solving abilities as well as your ability to write clean code.

4. Live Pair Session

You’ll meet with two engineers over a video call to go over your coding challenge and to assess additional technical skills that the coding challenge did not cover.
