Complies with strict guidelines and standards set by JCAHO, CMS and contractual agreements with health care providers. Assumes responsibility for Administration and Medical Legal aspects for employed physicians. Coordinates medical staff committee meetings and performs administrative functions as an ASST to the Director of Medical Staff ServicesEducationRequired - High School diploma or equivalentWork ExperienceRequired - 3 years business experience at the level of administrative asst.Preferred - Experience in a medical staff services/credentialing or health care related fieldKnowledge Skills And Abilities (KSAs)• Must have computer skills and dexterity required for data entry and retrieval of information.• Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally.• Must be proficient with Windows-style applications, various software packages specific to role and keyboard.• Strong interpersonal skills.• Knowledge of credentialing principles, including the Medical Staff Standards of JCAHO and Credentialing Standards of CMS.• Knowledge of medical and postgraduate education.• Typing and word processing skills of 50wpm.• Analytic skills.• Ability to use and experience exercising good judgment in handling difficult situations, functioning calmly in pressure situations, and adapting to frequent interruptions.• Detail-oriented, assertive, self-directed and the ability to work with minimal supervision.• Ability to travel thoughout facility.Job Duties• Performs credentialing process.• Maintains credentialing database.• Performs general administrative duties.• Performs medical staff liaison duties.• Performs special assignments as required.• Other duties as assigned.Other related duties as required.
