Under direct supervision, is responsible for general clerical/secretarial duties; and performs related duties as required.
Duties and Responsibilities
Types letters and memos utilizing a personal computer, typewriter and/or word processor
Enters and updates data in a personal computer or CRT
Answers telephone, routes calls and takes messages
Develops and maintains files
Accesses and files information
Copies information and distributes to appropriate location
Responds to general questions and complaints regarding department or work
Performs related duties as required
Minimum Qualifications
Graduation from High School or a General Education Development (GED) certificate, and one (1) year general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Knowledge of English spelling, grammar and punctuation; knowledge of office procedures
Skill in operating a personal computer, typewriter and basic office equipment
Ability to accurately enter data and file information; ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, County employees and the general public
May be required to work more than 40 hours during the workweek
Must secure and maintain a favorable background check investigation and clearance by the Bexar County District Attorney department
Must secure and maintain a pre-employment physical
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
Constantly working in indoor conditions
Occasionally moves items weighing up to 10-15 pounds
Occasionally moves about the office
Frequently communicates with others; must be able to exchange accurate information
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
Positions self to perform essential functions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position
