Optimism is a decentralized compute platform. There are many existing analogs to our business (AWS, Digital Ocean) but the context of web3 is also vastly different: Optimism is fully open sourced, competitive moats are different, and the economics of our ecosystem are complex. We’re looking for a leader to help us navigate decision-making amidst ambiguity by pairing judgment with data-driven research, and testing strategic hypotheses.
Optimism's Head of Strategy will play a vital role in driving the revenue strategy and sustainability of the Optimism Collective. If successful, this role will define and deliver a set of novel business mechanics at the heart of web3.
Develop and refine Optimism’s long-term revenue strategies by analyzing market trends, identifying growth opportunities, and setting goals and objectives to drive the Collective forward.
Lead efforts to identify and pursue new business opportunities, which could include expanding into new markets, forming strategic partnerships, or launching new product lines and ultimately owning respective revenue targets.
Conduct market research to develop a deep understanding of our peer and competitor positioning as well as the emerging crypto landscape to inform Optimism’s strategic bets.
Pioneer new ways of thinking of how Optimism might better develop our growth strategies within an open-sourced, public-facing and decentralized work environment.
Analyze and assess revenue risks and tradeoffs by identifying potential challenges like market changes, asset liquidity or government policies.
Contribute to the Collective’s strategic plan by providing insights, forecast trends, and drive decision-making to help inform and drive us towards our revenue targets.
Align cross-functional teams including Growth, Product, Legal and Finance and Data to test strategic hypotheses and revenue strategies.
15+ years of experience in a revenue-generating role ie. strategy, business operations, revenue or partnerships for a start-up or new product line, etc.
Experience launching and growing businesses to $1B+ in revenue and assets.
Experience in an emerging industry or at the forefront of new business models.
Demonstrated success working in a revenue leadership role that has created material growth amidst a rapidly changing industry.
Natural curiosity to solve complex business problems + understand advanced technical concepts (given the help and training).
Exceptional analytical skills that help make data-driven decisions and recommendations amongst ambiguity.
Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, and make decisive decisions.
Excellent cross-functional skills; proven experience moving quickly and driving results in a matrixed environment.
Proven ability to collaborate with supporting functions (e.g., DevRel, Data, Finance) to further accelerate growth.
Superior communication (written/verbal) skills.
