We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team for an initial 9-month contract.

What you’ll do

As a Senior Systems Engineer at Open, you will be a technical leader for all things Apple, MDM, Google Workspace, Okta and more. Pushing us forward in the adoption of the latest and greatest platform improvements across the stack. You will solve challenging problems, while meeting regulatory, compliance and security requirements.

You will build great relationships with many teams at Open from Customer Support, Engineering, Product and everything in between. You will work closely with these teams to deliver customer-focused solutions that help Open deliver a great insurance experience to the world. With a strong focus on automation, you will work closely with our helpdesk team to maintain a strong self-service culture.

In this role, you will:

  • Design secure IT systems and infrastructure that our team and customers can depend on.
  • Maintain a secure and compliant infrastructure environment with a focus on keeping UX great for our staff and partners.
  • Focus on automation to empower our teams to self-service and increase our efficiency.
  • Build strong relationships with the business and champion success for our teams.
  • Ensure our IT systems and infrastructure meet our compliance requirements.
  • Maintain and extend our modern technology stack, such as Zero Trust.
  • Push the envelope and look to innovate our current systems with the latest and greatest technologies.
  • Be a part of our helpdesk rotation, and lead resolutions of any technical escalations.

Finally, you’ll also have the opportunity to learn about the insurance industry, and understand the key differentiators that make Open a key player in our space and why we will be successful in our mission.

Role location

This role may be based out of Sydney or the Sunshine Coast.

What you’ll bring

  • Strong experience managing Identity Providers such as Azure/Okta etc.
  • Proven experience applying Zero Trust principles in systems engineering.
  • Strong experience in managing Apple devices using Jamf and other supporting tools.
  • Experience working in a regulated or compliant environment.
  • Strong experience managing productivity platforms like Google Workspace or Office 365.
  • Experience with managing networks and VPN connectivity, and experience with cloud-based services like Cloudflare Zero Trust or Twingate is preferred.
  • Experience with GitOps tooling like Terraform and pipelines will be a plus.
  • Proven experience leading complex technical projects end to end, from design to implementation including hypercare.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting complex issues across the entire tech stack.
