About the team

The post-training team is responsible for training and improving the pre-trained models to be deployed into ChatGPT, the API, and to other internal research teams. Within post-training, the core model team drives the improvements to these deployed models through algorithms, data, and user feedback mechanisms. We partner closely with research and product teams across the company.

About the Role

We are seeking a research tech lead/manager (TLM) for the post-training core model team to lead a team of researchers and research engineers. The focus of this team is to improve the algorithms and approaches to make effective use of user feedback. 

Responsibilities 

  • Tech leading and managing a small team of researchers and research engineers

  • Algorithm development for personalized language model systems

  • Building robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements

  • Collaborating closely with the other research sub-teams on post-training

Qualifications

  • Track-record of successfully delivering high impact machine learning systems

  • Research experience with large language models and reinforcement learning with human feedback

  • 3+ years experience managing research/engineering teams

  • Experience with recommendation systems

  • Exceptional software engineering background and organizational skills
