Job Description: Drug Dispensing TechnicianWe are currently seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Drug Dispensing Technician to join our pharmacy team. As a Drug Dispensing Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting pharmacists with the preparation, packaging, and distribution of medications to patients. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, contribute to the delivery of quality patient care, and support the overall operations of the pharmacy.Responsibilities:• Medication Dispensing: Assist pharmacists in accurately dispensing prescription medications to patients. Prepare medication orders, label prescription bottles, and ensure that medications are dispensed in the correct dosage and quantity.• Prescription Processing: Receive and review prescription orders from healthcare providers. Enter prescription information into the pharmacy computer system, verify patient information, and process insurance claims as needed.• Medication Packaging: Package medications according to established protocols, including unit-dose packaging, blister packs, and medication vials. Ensure that all medications are labeled accurately and meet quality standards.• Inventory Management: Assist with inventory management tasks, such as stock replenishment, medication ordering, and expiration date monitoring. Maintain proper storage and organization of medications and supplies.• Quality Assurance: Perform quality control checks on dispensed medications to ensure accuracy and completeness. Verify medication orders against prescription records and resolve any discrepancies or errors.• Customer Service: Interact with patients and healthcare providers to provide information and assistance with medication-related inquiries. Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while addressing customer needs.• Regulatory Compliance: Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations governing pharmacy practice, including HIPAA privacy requirements, pharmacy laws, and medication safety standards.Requirements:• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program or certification preferred.• Certification: Certification as a Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or National Healthcareer Association (NHA) preferred.• Experience: Previous experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting preferred but not required. Familiarity with pharmacy terminology, drug names, and prescription processing procedures.• Technical Skills: Proficiency in using pharmacy software systems and computerized prescription processing systems. Ability to navigate electronic health records (EHR) and insurance billing platforms.• Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in medication dispensing and labeling.
