Job DescriptionThis is a hands-on position with the successful applicant ready and able to assist with time-sensitive project issues and customer escalations. The role will look for efficiencies to improve quality and opportunities to advance the team capability through automation and education. This role requires excellent organizational skills and an ability to manage many concurrent projects.The applicant will spend most of their time managing the day-to-day operations of the team, responding to the needs of the customer base on an as-needed basis. The tasks may concern routine database maintenance, rapid response to unexpected outages or availability issues, or identifying and managing projects to continuously improve the quality of service provided to our users.Top skills to be successful:- Leadership and people management- Ability to work in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment.- Ability to work calmly under pressure with customers- Ability to effectively communicate technical ideas verbally and in writing (technical proposals, design specs, architecture diagrams and presentations)Technical skills required:- Oracle Database- Oracle Grid Infrastructure, ASM & RAC- Oracle Goldengate- Dataguard and Maximum Availability Architecture best practices- Oracle Cloud and Exadata Cloud Service (ExaCS) Oracle Autonomous Database (ADB)- Oracle Data Management (Partitioning, Compression)Education, certifications, or experience (preferred/required):- 6+ years of progressive leadership of Oracle Database administration teams- 8+ years of experience as Oracle DBA- Bachelor's degree/master's degree (Information Technology/Computer Science/Computer Software/Computer System Engineering)- Managing production databases running on LINUX flavors- Experience with production operations and best practices for change management and escalation procedures)- Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of Oracle database systemsResponsibilitiesManages a team maintaining and/or implementing software project(s) and/or internal systems. Defines, documents and manages scope, expectations, implementation approach, deliverables and acceptance testing criteria.Leads a specialized area which may have diverse functional elements. Frequently interacts with supervisors and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Demonstrated leadership skills. Detailed knowledge of several applications within a business area needed.
