Job DescriptionNetwork Hardware Engineers support the design, deployment, and operations ofa large-scale global Oracle cloud computing environment (Oracle CloudInfrastructure - OCI). Primarily focused on developing and deploying thephysical rack layouts, cabling design, and Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications.Pluggable Optics engineers are responsible for driving the test/qualification of thephysical components deployed by Pluggable Optics Engineering and theproduct lifecycle management in the pluggable optics space. We are looking forengineers with a unique background covering numerous areas of networkhardware engineering, including cabling, low-level device performance, thermals,etc. As OCI is a cloud-based network with a global footprint, this support willinclude hundreds of thousands of network devices supporting millions of servers,connected over a mix of dedicated backbone infrastructure and the Internet.Lead the standardization of our rack SKUs and the buildout of a standardizedcabling solution by defining high-level objectives and delivery procedures.Organizes project technical landmarks & supporting tasks. Worked as projecttechnical lead, coordinating the efforts of several engineers across multiple teams inthe organization. Advises project/program manager and coordinates withimmediate and skip-level leadership. Collaborates across teams within the same org(same VP) and outside of the org. Serve as technical SME in multi-functionalactivities. Has technical responsibility for complex project(s), including projectrequirements, specifications (where applicable), and documentation. Responsiblefor decomposing high-level architectures into detailed designs. Ability to leadmultiple engineers in developing network solutions consisting of multiple moduleswith complex interactions; Work with supporting service teams to ensure solutionsare adequately supported by monitoring and automation systems. Serves specializedescalation for all physical design and cabling issues within networking. Serves asthe principal point of contact for driving systematic resolution of complex networkdesign issues. Please take a look at current and future cabling and optical standards, cableplant design, rack structural calculations, and rack integration best practices.Provides a broad set of guidance to technical and senior technical members ofstaff. Interprets guidance from leaders (technical and managers) and offers focused development for junior members. Able to carry out technical coachingsessions, and helps junior members develop skills. Collaborates with vendorengineering and account manager to address current business or operationalissues. Participates in the development of RFQ/RFPs. This may lead to the adoption ofnew vendor hardware. Active communication with product teams.Responsible for driving technology to meet product and service requirements. Participate incoordinated communication with product teams, networking leadership, and PMOto help assess gaps, solutions, and needs.Career Level - IC5 Providing technical leadership for designing, developing,modifying, and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical, or mechanicalcomponents, assemblies, or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for theexternal market. This includes new designs and modification activities that resultin significant product enhancement. Activities encompass design, analysis, testing, and process development using engineering principles and methods. Technicalsubject areas may include electrical and logical design of printed circuit boards orintegrated circuits, mechanical design of electronics enclosures or integratedcircuit packaging, and embedded software/firmware design.Career Level - IC5ResponsibilitiesResponsible for designing, developing, modifying and evaluating electronic, electro-mechanical or mechanical components, assemblies or integrated circuitry for hardware systems for the external market.
