Order Entry Specialist

An Order Entry Specialist will prepare routine orders and scanning documents to a patient’s file. This role will also provide a wide range of support duties to Billing Departmental Staff.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:

• Extensive experience with data entry in a high-volume, fast-paced work environment.
• Typing: minimum 45 WPM; 10-key: minimum 4,000 KPH.
• Strong history of accuracy and errorless performance with high-volume.
• Ability to perform with a high degree of independent judgment, discretion, and confidentiality; and make complex decisions within a short period of time.
• Collaborates with other departments to ensure all orders are entered accurately at the start of the order process.
• Willingness to communicate with customers or clinics by phone.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Be present/visible in the home office a minimum of 40 hours per week (5 days/week (M-F), 8 hours/day). Exceptions to this need prior approval from your direct Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.

Additional skills that add value

• Understanding of medical coding, ICD-10, some medical terminology, ability to read medical prescriptions.
• Experience in a medical setting, preferably with DME, or experience in a technology or insurance setting.
• Familiar with health insurance billing process and HIPAA.

Education Requirements:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; college degree beneficial.

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

• Fast-paced, high-volume professional environment with frequent interruptions.
• Proficient use of office equipment including computers, copiers, fax machines and multi-line telephones.
• Ability to communicate effectively via spoken, written and electronic means.
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
