We started Oscar in 2012 to create the kind of health insurance company we would want for ourselves—one that behaves like a doctor in the family.About the roleThe Analyst, Actuarial supports Oscar’s pricing processes for a number of ACA markets. This role will be responsible to regularly update core actuarial models used for rate development, new product pricing and market expansion. The Analyst will work directly with other Actuaries, Data Scientists, Market P&L, Insurance Product and other Analytic support functions to enable Oscar’s innovative model to succeed as we grow.You will report to the Manager, Actuarial.Work Location:Oscar is a blended work culture where everyone, regardless of work type or location, feels connected to their teammates, our culture and our mission.If you live within commutable distance to our New York City office (in Hudson Square), our Tempe office (off the 101 at University Dr), or our Los Angeles office (in Marina Del Rey), you will be expected to come into the office at least two days each week. Note, this list of states is subject to change. #LI-RemotePay Transparency:The base pay for this role in the states of California, Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, and Washington is: $60,000 - 78,750 per year. The base pay for this role in all other locations is: $54,000 - 70,875 per year. You are also eligible for employee benefits, participation in Oscar’s unlimited vacation program and annual performance bonuses.Responsibilities• Regularly update core pricing and plan design models.• Support the preparation of regulatory ACA rate filings.• Support ad-hoc actuarial analyses that will help the organization identify meaningful insights across plan designs, providers, vendors, and markets.• Promote Oscar actuarial best practices with respect to automation and documentation.• Build strong relationships, rapport, and lines of communication with both internal and external stakeholders.• Compliance with all applicable laws and regulations• Other duties as assignedQualifications• Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.• Passed a minimum of two actuarial exams.• 1+ years of experience in a related field.Bonus Points• Experience with health insurance concepts and nuances.• Highly technical with a strong enthusiasm to apply tech-forward methods in actuarial models.• Proficient in coding.
