Reports To: Retail Store General Manager with visual direction provided by the Visual Merchandising Manager and/or the Regional Visual Merchandiser
Pay Range: $22.75-$25.75
Location: Freeport, ME Store

General Summary
The Outlet Visual Team Leader brings the Patagonia story to life by creating a retail environment that is innovative, unique, inspired, customer-friendly and reflective of the local community. The Outlet VTL is responsible for the implementation of visual merchandising directives and providing visual training and support for the retail team. The Outlet VTL works with the management team to identify and implement the rotation of styles from the stock room to the floor to promote seasonally appropriate selling and to support product promotion specials. The Outlet VTL ensures that brand directives are upheld, and local product stories told in the retail environment.
As a Team Leader, you maintain an environment that promotes employee learning and customer service through encouragement and coaching. You help to identify the priorities of each day, delegate necessary tasks, and train Customer Experience Guides.
The Outlet VTL works with the Visual Merchandising Manager or Regional Visual Merchandiser to support seasonal store transitions and sale set up, as well as maintaining the visual presentation of the store. The Outlet VM will use MS Teams visual chats on a regular basis to communicate visual needs as well as follow through on completion of identified tasks. The Outlet VTL is also responsible for visual training of the customer experience guides on the visual standards of the company.

What You’ll Do
You collaborate with the Retail Store General Manager, the Visual Merchandising Manager or Regional Visual Merchandiser and local store staff to develop and install environmental displays and customer communications. You implement and/or reinforce Patagonia’s environmental policy visually within the store. You will work with the Visual Merchandising Manager or Regional Visual Merchandiser to ensure ordering of all visual and marketing assets for the store with guidance from Visual Leadership. You work with Store Management and Visual Leadership to plan and execute sale set up and recovery.
As a Team Leader, you engage by determining and meeting the specific needs of each customer with kindness and creativity. While modeling that behavior, you ensure Customer Experience guides have access to all tools and resources to provide that same level of service. You ensure accuracy in all point-of-sale operations by completing all register and scenario training for yourself and the team. You handle product returns in the spirit of our Ironclad Guarantee, while ensuring the team does returns accurately for inventory purposes. You fulfill online orders and inventory transfers. You merchandise the store during downtimes: folding, hanging, steaming and stocking. You assist in the training of fellow employees. You lead by example and inspire your team to live Patagonia’s mission, both in the store and in the community.

  • You work with Store Management and Visual Leadership to plan and execute seasonal flips, sale set up and recovery, product rotation between stockroom and floor as well as product promotions.
  • You document your work and provide examples on a monthly and seasonal basis through the designated channels.
  • You reactively merchandise by examining reports, weather forecasts and customer trends to maximize engagement.
  • You maintain all windows, fixtures, tables, mannequins and signage to ensure that product placement is thoughtful, effective, and maintained by the team as brand appropriate.

YOU LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND COMMUNICATE EFFECTIVELY
  • You serve as a role model for the team by identifying and delegating daily visual priorities.
  • You coach team members on maintaining the entire store’s visual appearance.
  • You maintain positive relationships with management, team members and store partners creating an environment that meets the needs of multiple groups.
  • You consistently and effectively communicate with Store Management and Visual Leadership through MS Teams.

YOU VALUE AND DEMONSTRATE QUALITY IN ALL THAT YOU DO
  • You work with staff to ensure optimal inventory levels on the sales floor to meet the needs of the customer.
  • You align with District Managers, Store General Managers, Store Assistant Managers, Visual Merchandising Managers and or Regional Visual Merchandisers to coordinate and implement seasonal sales and transitions, product rotation from back stock to floow and supporting product promotions.

YOU CONSISTENTLY EXECUTE ALL DUTIES OF A CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE GUIDE
  • When not scheduled for visual duties, the balance of weekly hours will be scheduled as a Team Leader or Customer Experience Specialist.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Travel may be required to new store openings and events, either by public transportation, the use of a personal car or other mode of travel.
  • Occasional outings to purchase merchandising supplies are needed.
  • Able to safely and regularly lift and carry 55 pounds.
  • Comfortable climbing ladders.
  • Continually able to kneel to floor level.
  • Able to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  • Fine motor skills required.

SCHEDULE
Our stores are open seven days a week. You must be available to work a minimum of one weekend day, one opening shift and one closing shift per week. You must report to work on time or provide notification in advance if absent or late.
  • The total number of scheduled Visual focused work hours per week are up to 32 hours. This could change based on store needs and at the General Managers discretion.
  • The weekly schedule will be determined in collaboration with the Store Management Team and the Visual Merchandising Manager and or the Regional Visual Merchandiser.
