Packaging Machine Operator

We are seeking to hire for multiple Packaging Machine Operator positions at our manufacturing plant site in Bessemer City, North Carolina. The available shifts for the positions include both 1st and 2nd shift. Under the direction of the Production Supervisor and PMO lead, this position is responsible for operating one packaging line or tray, and scale equipment in the processing of value added fresh vegetable products.


1st Shift: Monday through Saturday 6:00am-4:30pm | $16.44/hr. - $21.98/hr.

2nd Shift: Monday through Saturday 4:00pm-Close | $16.84/hr. - $24.53/hr.

  • Close time for 2nd shift can vary from 12:00am-3:00am.

  • Operate Hayssen packaging and scale equipment
  • Operate tray equipment
  • Perform set-ups, shut downs, and adjust control settings and logics
  • Solve problems relating to specifications for packaging quality, weights, fills, seals, tray, and film runs
  • Perform quality checks, product and film changeovers, mechanical adjustments, and required paperwork
  • Assist dryer, packaging and stacking teams to ensure productivity accuracy and efficiency
  • Ensure quality and safety of raw and finished product
  • Ensure safe operating process for all equipment
  • Any and all other duties assigned by your Supervisor
  • Ability to work overtime as needed. Some weekends are required.


Required Skills
  • SKILLS: Must have good communication and computer skills. Must be a self-starter and possess initiative. Must be able to lead and direct.

  • ADDITIONAL: Hands-on ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented food processing environment. Required to work independently and with limited supervision. Must be able to maintain regular and acceptable attendance, follow directions, interact well with co-workers, understand and follow posted work rules/ procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Work is performed in a cold environment with an average temperature of 34 degrees Fahrenheit. Concentrated chlorine and concealed ammonia is present. Work surfaces and floors may be wet. Employees are required to wear approved shoes and protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 10 lbs. unassisted up to 1/3 of the workday, and 6 lbs. overhead as job demands. Constant standing on a concrete floor, reaching, bending, stooping, and repetitive hand movements may be required. Moving machinery, including conveyor and forklifts are in operation in the immediate area.


Required Experience


Three to four years of experience in a production environment. Manufacturing /food experience desirable.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION

H.S. Diploma or GED equivalent; BS desirable. Work keys required.
