Career and Professional Programs at LaGuardia Community College is seeking part-time instructor to teach the Future of Manufacturing class. In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to guide students in exploring the innovative realm of virtual reality and its applications in manufacturing processes.
This course offers underserved New Yorkers a unique opportunity to explore promising career pathways in the rapidly evolving manufacturing industry. It serves as a collaborative and project-based introduction to computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) as well as virtual reality (VR) product development. Students will gain hands-on experience in building 3-dimensional, parametric assemblies, and creating technical drawings using SolidWorks. Additionally, they will learn the essentials of product development within the Oculus 2 platform using Gravity Sketch. The course culminates in a capstone project that allows students to apply their newfound knowledge and skills.

Position: Grant Sponsored Instructor
Pay Rate-$75/hr.
Responsibilities:
· Delivering Engaging Training Sessions: Develop and deliver engaging lectures, presentations, and hands-on workshops on the future of manufacturing, with a specific focus on virtual reality technologies.
· Design and implement a comprehensive curriculum that covers various aspects of virtual reality in manufacturing, including tools such as Solidworks, Gravity Sketch, and other related software.
· Creating Interactive Instructional Materials: Develop instructional materials, including presentations, lab exercises, practical scenarios, and simulations. Utilize diverse teaching methodologies, such as interactive discussions, hands-on activities, and case studies, to cater to different learning styles and enhance student engagement.
· Facilitating Hands-on Learning: Demonstrate practical applications of virtual reality tools and techniques in manufacturing, helping students bridge the gap between theory and real-world scenarios..
· Assessing Student Progress: Evaluate student progress through regular assessments, assignments, quizzes, and exams. Offer guidance and constructive feedback to students during project-based assignments, encouraging their growth and skill development.
· Responsible for accurately recording student attendance and tracking their performance throughout the course.
· Addressing Student Needs: Respond promptly and effectively to student questions, concerns, and requests for clarification.

Requirements:
· Industry Experience Demonstrated experience in virtual reality technologies, with a focus on their application in manufacturing processes. A minimum of 5 years’ experience working in the field of manufacturing or related.
· Instructional Skills: Ability to deliver engaging and effective training sessions.
· Strong Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex concepts. Ability to explain technical information in a clear and concise manner.
· Education: College Degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.
· Teaching Experience: Prior teaching or training experience is preferred, showcasing the ability to effectively guide and inspire students.
