The Production Scheduler uses his/her knowledge of the production process and Shop’s capabilities to efficiently schedule all jobs through production. This person will see that all jobs are produced by the due date, meeting quality standards. ($15-$19 per hour) (Part time 2nd shift - 20 hours a week)

Responsibilities
Holds daily production meeting; updates incoming shifts with current WIP report
Schedules/prioritizes orders flowing to every production department to be completed at the earliest practical time
Reviews orders in Point of Sale system before placing into production
Clears “to be scheduled” basket; first priority in morning
Checks “to be scheduled” basket a minimum of 3 times per hour
Updates the location of all jobs and prints WIP report
Monitors all invoices/job tickets for complete written instructions and accurate due dates
Makes sure orders are completed within the agreed upon time
Makes well-considered decisions on large jobs, rush jobs, and as production loads increase
Knows the capabilities of the press area and uses this knowledge to efficiently schedule printing jobs
Maintains purchasing records; codes supply orders using a Purchase Order (“P.O.”) system
Other duties as assigned
Has in-depth knowledge/training on Point of Sale system and monitors all invoices and job tickets for accurate pricing
Knows capabilities of Shop personnel and equipment including waste
Keeps all equipment, labor and material costs under control so that Shop is able to maximize profitability
Responsible for ordering of all paper and supplies and maintaining appropriate inventories while maintaining sample books, price lists
Has established relations with local commercial binderies and orders outside bindery services as necessary
Knows when it is appropriate to sublet work, and when it is not
Is able to reduce specific jobs to press time equivalents for daily capacity planning
Assists in front counter when needed
Is able to deal effectively with disappointed customers
Reviews press and design services logs, notes work loads and efficiencies, and forwards to Shop
Manager
Regularly monitors production of all departments in the Shop
Informs Manager of paper pricing increases
Helps maintain clearly-marked storage and work areas
Qualifications
Prior printing, graphic arts, or digital printing experience preferred
Has a basic understanding of financial and productivity ratios of a manufacturing environment
Has supervisory experience in a high pressure, customer service environment
Can handle multi-tasking; is detail oriented
Is able to work flexible hours, if necessary
