Position Summary:
This role supports all phases of research, from literature review to prototyping and presentation, by providing guidance, collaboration, and assistance in research activities. The successful candidate is an enthusiastic learner who can appreciate the thrill of academic discovery. The Department is committed to fostering the professional development of this intern in line with knowledge and skills pertaining to biomedical engineering and research.
Essential Functions:
- Assist in conducting literature reviews related to pulse oximetry research.
- Participate in the development of 3D models for sensor parts using software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar tools under the guidance of faculty and staff.
- Assist in researching and identifying various sensor parts used in pulse oximetry.
- Collaborate with the research team to assist in designing and implementing new experiments or studies.
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations to communicate research findings and progress.
- Participate in regular team meetings and contribute to research updates.
- Participate in departmental events related to pulse oximetry research.
- Participate in academic research related to pulse oximetry, facilities, and programs.
Prerequisite Qualifications:
- Current high school student with interest in electrical engineering or a related field.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Enthusiasm to learn about and engage with research equipment such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, other 3D modeling software, pulse oximeters, and various sensor parts used in pulse oximetry.
- Interest in learning about the research process, including literature reviews, experiment design, and report writing.
- At the university's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
