Job Summary:

Michelle Thomas, Director of Student Engagement and Diversity at the Farmer School of Business is hiring 5 Student Ambassadors/Chaperones for Passport Boot Camp which takes place Sunday, August 20 - Wednesday, August 23. Passport Ambassadors will chaperone 25 incoming freshmen during all daytime and evening activities including lunches, dinners, presentations, and workshops throughout the four days starting Sunday, August 20 - Wednesday, August 23. Pay is $600 for the week.

All Passport Ambassadors will have all meals covered (on-campus program meals & dining halls only) from Sunday, August 20 - Wednesday, August 23. Early move-in fees will be covered from Sunday, August 20 - Wednesday, August 23 for those Ambassadors living in a residence hall during the fall semester. If you are not living in a residence hall in the fall, please indicate that in your application so we can discuss arrangements.

The FSB Passport Program and pre-semester bootcamp is a high-touch student success initiative for first-year students enrolling on the Oxford campus for Fall 2023 who have been directly admitted to the Farmer School of Business and have opted into the Passport Program. Passport targets talented students who have strong academic credentials and have an interest in studying business. Passport students will receive comprehensive academic support along with professional development and service learning opportunities. Passport is a 4 year program.

Our goal is to provide FSB Passport Students added support to ensure their success at Miami and FSB during their 4 years. As part of the Passport program, students will work towards completing a list of requirements that will position them for success. Through a series of activities, Passport students will work with their assigned FSB Academic Advisor to further expand upon skills related to transitioning to college, career development, time management, study skills, and degree planning.



Minimum Qualifications:

Passport Bootcamp: Students opting into the FSB Passport Pre-Semester Boot camp will:

Create a network of current FSB students (Passport Ambassadors)
Develop and define your personal brand
Create a successful network with faculty, staff, peers
Develop internship/career acumen
Develop success strategies to ease transition from high school to college
Build sense of community and belonging (peers, staff, faculty)
Increase knowledge of campus resources and support services

At the Passport Bootcamp, you will:

Meet Passport Student Ambassadors - Panel discussion on how to succeed in college
Obtain advice on professional etiquette (includes etiquette dinner and communication tips)
Connect and network with key influencers on campus: faculty members, administrators, and staff: FSBCareers, Deans, and faculty from First Year Integrated Core (FYIC)
Explore exciting opportunities in 40+ FSB Student Organizations. (hint: employers source talent through organizations)
Identify and leverage strengths through CliftonStrengths Assessment tool…take your talents to the next level!
Connect with your personal FSB Academic Advisor on class scheduling, degree completion, and time management
