Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Great outcomes start with great people and Armor has an exciting opportunity for a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our team at our corporate headquarters in Miami, Florida in this hybrid role.


Our Total Rewards Manager is responsible for the administration of the organization’s benefits, leave of absence, workplace accommodation and worker’s compensation programs. Reporting to the Human Resources leader, the position will also be involved in the strategic planning of the programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, employee retention and cost management.

Responsibilities:
  • Process payroll, adjustments, deductions, and reconciliations, amending any inefficiencies or inaccuracies.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of upstream and downstream processes in all payroll-related processes while performing continuous analysis in order to recommend solutions that improve, streamline and optimize compensation and resources and managing risk.
  • Trains and instructs employees and supervisors in the proper use of payroll-related systems including entry of time-sheets, on-line access of pay statements, etc.
  • Responds to and resolves complex and sensitive customer inquiries regarding payroll policies and procedures both verbally and in writing.
  • Acts as a payroll subject matter expert to other departments.
  • Maintains payroll-related manuals, procedures, and flow charts.
  • Formulates payroll-related reports and research, compile, and analyze payroll data.
  • Analyzes payroll variances and validates final reports to ensure accuracy.
  • Produces electronic transfers and works closely with other departments toward accurate and timely payment remittance.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements; advising management on needed actions
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential
  • Inspects automated systems output and conduct regular data updates and maintenance by collaborating closely with the Director of Payroll.
  • Assists with the benefits and wellness program offerings .
  • Partners and participates with HR generalist team and LOA vendor in the interactive process discussions relating to ADA..
  • Maintains a through working knowledge of benefits, legislation, compliance, industry standards, best practices and effective processes.
  • Assists with benefits compliance reporting
Qualifications:

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and must exhibit our core value- attention to detail.
  • Exceptional technology skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and work-flow applications. HRIS skills are required, preferably with Paylocity or similar platform.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (Benefits, Human Resources, Accounting, IT).
  • Knowledge of health and wellness benefits
  • Some knowledge of worker’s compensation, FMLA, ADA and other applicable laws
  • Exceptional analytical skills and the ability to workflow and solve for ambiguous problems
  • Strong organizational skills and must exhibit our core value- attention to detail
  • Must be able to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and exhibit our core value- embrace change; ability to prioritize and multi-task.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration,relevant field or equivalent combination of work experience.
  • 3-5 years of solid payroll work experience required
  • Experience handling payroll for over 1,000 employees is preferred
  • Experience with health and wellness benefits programs
  • SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or a benefits certification strongly preferred.
