Payroll Manager

The Payroll Manager reports to and works closely with the Director of Payroll. This position will manage all activities of the payroll function as well as other responsibilities, including a leadership and oversight role within the Payroll Unit. The Payroll Manager will manage, mentor, and train the payroll team members. A strong leader and a team-player who promotes an equitable and respectful work environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee the Society’s payroll function and ensure the payroll goes out in a timely manner
  • Coordinate the monthly and quarterly reporting and analysis related to salaries and fringe benefits
  • Prepare audit schedules, participate in preparation of 990, support workers compensation and program audits and timely filling of States and CHAR500 filings
  • Prepare the Society union and non-union pension schedules and oversee the associated audits.
  • Oversee the updating of employee data in ADP and in Financial Edge (and manage the integration between the two platforms)
  • Set up new Payroll Earnings and Deductions Codes
  • Ensure that employee adjustments for wage garnishments, child support, levies, etc. are processed properly and timely
  • Prepare quarterly and year end payroll accruals
  • Develop and produce payroll related reports in ADP and Financial Edge
  • Make certain, from a payroll perspective, that the new employee onboarding process is done timely and efficiently
  • Research and resolve employee payroll discrepancies
  • Interact with employees and all levels of management on payroll related projects and inquiries
  • Manage the preparation of various schedules and requests for unions’ negotiations
  • Experience in Implementing and managing overall payroll and time keeping systems
  • Perform special projects as requested by senior management
  • Other duties as assigned

  • BA/BS degree required, CPP Certification preferred
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience.Nonprofit experience preferred
  • Proficient with ADP and other payroll related software
  • Experience with Financial Edge a plus
  • Working proficiency in Excel
  • Demonstrable experience leading, developing, and mentoring finance professionals, growing future leaders and inspiring high performing teams
  • A proven ability to identify and drive impactful financial outcomes, and to manage complex projects across multiple teams
  • Ability to analyze information and data
  • Understand when to delegate tasks and when to escalate critical time sensitive issues
  • Demonstrate a commitment to quality, accuracy, and thoroughness
  • Versatile in handling multiple tasks simultaneously in accordance with highest priority
  • Ability to meet deadlines, which may require a flexible schedule, as extended working hours may be required during month-end and year-end
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Sense of professionalism, confidentiality, and a strong work ethic
  • Excellent management and leadership skills
SALARY TRANSPARENCY
The posting reflects the range of potential salaries for the role. The specific salary offers will be dependent on candidate qualifications, including collectively bargained salary steps for unionized roles.

Salary Range/ Salary: $110,000 to $120,000
