Payroll Manager

The Payroll job reviews payroll calculations to ensure that the organization's payroll processes are functioning properly. Working under limited supervision, this job manages various payroll duties and bookkeeping tasks, while ensuring the quality, integrity and timeliness of payroll reports and other analytical reports.

Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Reviews the calculation of gross and net pay amounts to ensure accuracy (e.g., salary, overtime, shift payments, sales commissions, bonuses, deferred compensation, benefits, tax withholdings, deductions, payroll liabilities, etc.).

  • Reviews payroll data, production records, and individual attendance records within the HRIS and payroll system, and corrects errors to ensure the accuracy of payroll payments.

  • Reviews the reconciliation of payroll records (e.g., payments, deductions, general ledger entries for wages).

  • Ensures the balance of payroll runs and compliance with related requirements, including minimum wage, local tax rates, and related federal and state regulations.

  • Manages employee inquiries and troubleshooting issues related to payroll that require policy interpretation.

  • Coaches and reviews the work of lower level professionals.

The Payroll Manager is responsible for ensuring that payroll, time tracking and payroll processes are following all regulatory requirements with human resources. This role focuses on reconciliation of payroll records, data verification, and legislative compliance. In addition, this role leads payroll related initiatives to include Year-end/Year-begin; annual bonus and merit processing and other projects as assigned. This position also provides guidance and oversight to the U.S. Payroll Processing team in India to ensure payroll processing is completed accurately in a timely and compliant manner.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
  • Oversee the design and compliance of payroll to ensure that the department is responding to employee needs and staying up to date and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Make recommendations for system enhancements and process changes to increase payroll processing efficiency.
  • Oversee the completion and organization of payroll, production records, and individual attendance records within the HCM and payroll system and coordinates the correction of errors to ensure the accuracy of payroll payments.
  • Oversee the calculations for gross and net pay amounts, for example, salary, overtime, sales commission, bonuses, deferred compensation, benefits, deductions, and payroll liabilities.
  • Maintain payroll-specific records if there are changes in wage/salary rates, pension, insurance, mandatory deductions, new hires, terminations, leave of absence, keeping all records up to date.
  • Reconcile payroll records as well as answers questions for employees and supervisors regarding payroll matters so that employees have full knowledge and understanding of their pay.
  • Verifies payroll data and administration to ensure accuracy of records and reporting.
  • Manage the SLA’s and escalation of employee inquiries and troubleshooting issues related to payroll that require policy interpretation or system enhancement.
  • Manage internal and external audit inquiries.
  • Coach and reviews the work of both US and India Payroll Team.
Required:
  • 3+ years of payroll experience required; 5+ years of payroll experience preferred
Desired:
  • 3+ years of Workday payroll experience

Base Pay Range: $77,438/yr. - $129,063/yr.
Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
