Seeking an experienced payroll professional who thrives in a fast-paced collaborative team environment. This role not only ensures that Sunstate’s weekly payroll is processed accurately, efficiently and without a hitch, it supports Sunstate’s growth by continually applying updated payroll best practices. Open to experienced candidates from Specialist to Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform daily payroll operations and process weekly and off-cycle multi-state payroll with utmost accuracy and adherence to all applicable policies and laws.
  • Review and audit timekeeping records for compliance
  • Process new hires, rehires, changes and terminations accurately
  • Prepare final and any manual pay calculations following state-specific final pay requirements.
  • Process garnishment orders and wage attachments.
  • Review and audit personal employee information requests/changes. Manage employment verification vendor feed and ad hoc verification requests.
  • Year-end payroll preparations and manage annual W-2 distribution.
  • Facilitate payroll, unemployment, and various local/municipal taxes as the organization expands into new states.
  • Assist with governmental reporting and compliance by completing federal and state payroll tax reporting.
  • Ensure accurate record retention.
  • General ledger report processing, upload and reconciliation.
  • Continuously reviews, improves, and documents processes/procedures for efficiency best practices.
  • Gathers and provides documentation for auditor controls and/or legal discovery

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or relevant field, preferred
  • Minimum 5 years multi-state (including CA) payroll processing experience
  • Advanced knowledge of payroll best practices
  • UKG (Ultipro) and Cognos experience strongly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficient with Microsoft Outlook and Word
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong team, collaborative and interpersonal and customer service skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong knowledge of state and federal employment law
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem solving skills
  • A high degree of integrity and ethical standards
  • Strength in researching information and analyzing data to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations and plans of action
  • Have an auditor’s mindset when it comes to all things payroll-related
  • CCP or CPP preferred, but not required
