The Payroll Specialist reports to the Payroll Manager at ACRT Services. This position will play a key role in processing federal, state, and local tax information, as well as maintain and organize files for payroll. This position requires a high degree of organization and excellent attention to detail.
Process Important Tax Information

Process employee W-4 and state withholdings

Prepare annual reconciliations tax jurisdiction

Review and update employee tax and retirement records in accordance with prevailing tax codes and legislative mandates

Report and maintain federal, state, and local tax information

Process federal, state, and local tax information

Record and report all employee demographic changes relating to payroll or federal, state, local tax laws

Maintain employee payroll, tax, and deduction files

Prepare W-2 earnings statements

Maintain files for payroll, tax, bonus, etc.

Input documents to update employee year-end records
Support with Employee Payroll Information

Process bi-weekly and weekly pay for employee groups in strict accordance with union contracts, government wage & hour laws, and company policy

Calculate and process regular pay, overtime and annualized salaries
-
Calculate and process annual salary cost of living projections
-
Verify pay records and leave balances

Verify employee wage and withholding
-
Prepare electronically transmitted direct deposit

Produce trend and statistical reports

Research and complete all incoming paperwork as needed for verifications of balances from outside agencies

Maintain payroll deductions in accordance with union contracts, company policy, and legal requirements

Interacts with auditors; provides access to payroll and other related information

Assist with compiling data for accounting audits and ESOP allocations

Responds to requests re: employment verifications and garnishments

Manage and process combined payrolls and assisting managers, employees, and senior leaders

Review timecards to ensure accuracy

Respond to inquiries from employees and customers

Calculates and prepares off-cycle, manually issued checks, gross to net
Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance
Experience: 5 or more years of experience in payroll administration. In addition, a Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) is nice to have.
Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel (Look-ups, Pivot Tables, etc.)
Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills, ability to multi-task and work independently as well as a team
Excellent communication skills, comfortable interacting with senior management
Demonstrated critical thinking skills and ability to exercise good judgement to make good business decisions
Knowledge of Workday Payroll, Time Tracking, and Absence
Strong knowledge of tax and wage laws (Specifically – California)

At ACRT Services we prefer in-person employee interaction and we rely on collaboration among groups to be successful and agile, which means we expect work in the office to continue as an important part of our company culture and a key to employee success. This position is a remote hybrid role, meaning employees will be required to come into the Stow, Ohio office on a weekly or as needed basis.
Standard office equipment will be provided to work in the office and at home – a dedicated space at home to work is also required. Uninterrupted home-based internet is a must in your home to attend and host video calls, along with a minimum bandwidth speed of 20 mbps. If you do not have an in home office space or cannot meet the internet needs, an office space will be provided for you in the company’s Stow, Ohio office.
