About the roleAs a Business Development Manager (BDM) at Pearson, you will drive growth for our College and Career Readiness Learning Solution offerings. You'll develop strategic partnerships within large school district and/or juvenile justice agency ecosystem, working closely with marketing, product management, and sales teams to create compelling presentations, proposals, and demonstrations. Your role involves prospecting new clients, managing key accounts, and collaborating with field sales and marketing to protect and expand market share. This is your opportunity to work with a dynamic team and leverage your strategic thinking to foster collaborations between K12 and higher education institutions, ensuring students receive the best possible preparation for their future careers.Your key responsibilities• Achieve Revenue Targets: Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales goals for College and Career Readiness offerings, driving overall business growth.• Identify and Develop Opportunities: Engage with clients and network at educational events to uncover market opportunities, propose innovative business ideas, and introduce new offerings to the sales force.• Build and Manage Pipeline: Work with sales partners to prospect, develop, and grow a pipeline of potential school districts and juvenile justice agencies, focusing on strategic needs and revenue potential.• Strategic Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, institutional stakeholders, state agencies, and other education leaders to serve as a trusted advisor and consultant.• Market Research and Competitor Analysis: Continuously analyze market trends, competitor strategies, and prospective account opportunities to inform sales tactics and strategies.• Lead Sales Initiatives: Manage all stages of the sales process, including prospecting, proposal development, presentations, closing deals, and post-sale support to ensure customer satisfaction and retention.• Collaboration and Coordination: Partner with marketing, product management, and sales teams to develop and deliver effective sales presentations, proposals, and training sessions.• Use of Sales Tools: Effectively utilize OneCRM and other sales tools to manage opportunities, ensure accurate data entry, and provide insightful market analysis and reporting.About youEssential:• Proven Sales Leadership: 5+ years in sales management or leading College and Career readiness solutions, demonstrating consistent success.• Strategic Sales Skills: Expertise in complex educational solutions, engaging decision-makers, negotiating, and executing effective go-to-market plans.• Business Acumen: Proficient in account planning, financial modeling, and using data to inform and drive business plans.• Effective Communicator: Skilled in engaging with various stakeholders, articulating value propositions, and guiding internal teams to achieve customer and revenue goals.• Holistic Thinker: Adept at integrating and interpreting complex information to provide strategic solutions and drive business success.• Analytical and Strategic : Strong problem-solving abilities, capable of coaching teams, identifying opportunities, and driving business growth.• Collaborative Leader: Proven track record of leading and working within teams, fostering a culture of shared ownership and accountability, and delivering customer-focused outcomes.• Desirable Qualifications:• Business Development: Experience or demonstrated aptitude in business development.• Educational Insight: High comfort level with educational solutions and engaging with education leaders and influencers.• Resilience: Proven ability to overcome challenges and adversity, demonstrating tenacity and perseverance.Additional key information• Location: Per Territory, we are looking to hire US wide.• Travel: 50- 60%Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location.
