Summary:
• The Physician Recruiter is responsible for the recruitment, selection, offer negotiation, and contract execution for attending physician candidates for various specialties throughout Penn Medicine that are employed by Penn Medical Group (PMMG). The Physician Recruiter demonstrates the highest level of recruiting practice, possessing the ability to independently manage and close complex offer negotiations with attending physician candidates. The Physician Recruiter will act as the central point of contact during each recruitment effort, professionally representing the Penn brand at all times, and ensuring that the hiring department, the candidate, and other internal stakeholders have an optimal experience. The Physician Recruiter is a strategic partner who works directly with PMMG leadership, key internal stakeholders, and the departments to develop, implement, and facilitate recruitment and placement strategies and staffing services for the individual recruitments, including advertising, sourcing, personally screening candidates via phone, interviewing candidates in-person to determine organizational fit, extending the financial offer, complex compensation negotiation, and contract execution in collaboration with Penn's Office of General Counsel. The Physician Recruiter will work under limited supervision and will work with a level of performance that requires independent action, analysis and interpretation. This role supports PMMG's overall strategies while effectively and efficiently filling all positions as assigned. This position may also participate in special projects as identified such as but not limited to marketing, retention, new or updated processes, and workforce planning and pipeline strategies.
Responsibilities:
• Recruit attending physicians for employment within Penn Medicine Medical Group. This includes both primary care and specialty care physician hires.
• Recruiting Methodology and Transactions
• Conducts phone screens in a thorough and professional manner, paying special attention to malpractice history and work history due diligence questions. Informs applicants of job specifics, compensation and benefits, work environment, bonus programs and other related information. Presents competitive candidates to hiring departments.
• Facilitate the interview and debriefing process and assessment for selected candidates to ensure an excellent first impression of the practice and Penn Medicine.
• Personally interview candidates face-to-face to determine organizational fit.
• Serves in a consultative and advisory role with hiring departments to guide them in the selection process and ensure consistent hiring practices across PMMG. Works with PMMG leadership to determine appropriate salary offers, ensuring that the financial proforma process with the sponsoring entity has been completed before an offer is extended.
• Support the preparation of candidate offer package and closing strategies in tandem with the hiring department and PMMG leadership, and other key internal stakeholders.
• Negotiation of offer, including total compensation package, Letter of Intent, and Employment Contract, and tracking receipt of all signed documents. Provides close follow up with the candidate and hiring department throughout the candidate's decision-making process.
• Support the contracting process in tandem with Penn's Office of General Counsel and PMMG leadership, addressing the candidate's contract questions expeditiously.
• Collaborate with the Provider Services Specialist with the on-boarding of each new hire, including initiation of relocation (when applicable), medical staff credentialing and enrollment, etc. aimed at expediting the provider hire. Understands the Penn Office of Medical Affairs process for credentialing and enrollment.
• Organizational Influence:
• Demonstrates confidence to interact with physician and senior level leaders.
• Understands the core business and can articulate the connections between recruitment and business operations within PMMG and across all entities.
• Meets regularly with operations and leadership teams to discuss staffing needs.
• Meets regularly with lead physicians and operations leaders to ensure understanding of position and departmental requirements for each individual recruitment.
• Acts as the primary liaison with external parties contracted to develop advertising/marketing campaigns for the recruitment of hard to fill positions; evaluates the results of advertising and recommends changes when necessary; actively participates in the development and maintenance of recruitment/marketing materials.
• Proactively seeks out opportunities to meet and exceed operational needs.
• Understands that the Physician Recruiter role is a true ambassador of Penn Medicine externally to physician candidates. Maintains the highest level of professionalism, professional decorum, and responsiveness at all times in an effort to represent the organization appropriately.
• Recruiting Strategies:
• Consults with PMMG leadership, entity leadership, lead physicians, and operations leadership to make recommendations for individualized recruiting strategy that aligns with market and industry climate.
• Responsible for development, implementation, maintenance and measurement of recruiting plans.
• Works with hiring departments in providing specialized and fiscally sound recruitment services as needed.
• Works to build pipelining strategies and pools for key positions.
• Recruits for open positions as assigned and/or plans for future openings.
• Manages complex recruitment projects, up through leadership roles.
• Understands social media and web-based recruitment.
• Can develop, execute and document sourcing plans.
• Support the workforce planning process, gathers and maintains metrics and provides reports to PMMG leadership operations. Manages data for recruitment and other programs.
• Develops a comprehensive recruitment plan and can articulate the plan to a potentially broad audience both verbally and in writing.
• Develops and implements a recruitment plan for assigned positions to include recruitment of applicants through various resources such as internet, social media, career fairs, list services, residency/fellowship programs or agencies.
• Recommends alternative recruitment strategies for hard to fill positions.
• Maintains a selection and interview system in accordance with state and federal laws, EEO Regulations and Hospital and UPHS Policies. o Produces postings to attract the best potential candidates; uses strategies likely to increase the visibility of positions on the web and in social media.
• Recruiting Technology:
• Utilizes our recruiting technologies to our best advantage, logging all candidate activity in the Salesforce database.
• Produces reports necessary to communicate with PMMG team.
• Organize and proactively track candidates for future openings using the Salesforce database. Maintain an understanding of Penn Medicine Human Resources shared services functions in order to advise PMMG physician candidates and employed physicians on basic Human Resources questions surrounding policies, benefits, retirement, HRIS, etc. Appropriately escalates issues requiring attention to his/her supervisor

• May occasionally travel to suburban locations and may be required to transport materials for meetings, interviews, etc.
Education or Equivalent Experience:
• Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required)
• Equivalent Experience:
• And 2+ years total recruitment experience OR 1-2 years Provider (APP, Physician) Recruitment experience
• Experience with common tools, processes and applications used in full life-cycle recruiting (i.e. ATS systems, social networking, etc.)
