Naval Structures Modeling Engineer

Responsibilities

This is an onsite position at Peraton's customer site: NSWCCD West Bethesda, MD.

 

 

Peraton is hiring a Naval Structures Modeling Engineer to do the following:

 

  • Support the US Navy's Structural Acoustics research team at NSWC Carderock Division. 
  • Candidate will work with Finite Element Modeling / Finite Element Analysis (FEM/FEA) tools to support ongoing research into the acoustics of US Navy platforms. 
  • Significant portion of responsibilities will involve generation and test of FEM model meshes of complex Naval structures using commercial FEM tools. 
  • Additional efforts will include running FEA tools, generating results, and assisting Government SMEs in analysis of the FEA results. 

 

Candidate will work within a Government - Contractor team performing multiple projects concurrently.  A successful candidate must be a self-starter able to communicate with multiple teams, set and adjust priorities and schedules, and deliver results per schedule.  

Qualifications

Education and Experience:

 

5 years with BSME, BS Physics or Math; 3 years with MSME or MS; 0 years with PhD

 

Required:

  • Demonstrated experience with Finite Element Modeling.  Must have experience defining model meshes of complex structures.
  • Demonstrated experience using commercial FEM/FEA tools such as COMSOL, ANSYS, Abaqus.  
  • DoD SECRET Clearance

Desired:

  • Experienced COMSOL user

Target Salary Range

$86,000 - $138,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
