Location: Columbia, MO (relocation reimbursement available)

Compensation: $80,000-$120,000

About the Role:  ESS is seeking a skilled and motivated Engineering Project Manager to lead and oversee their engineering design projects from initiation to completion. The ideal candidate will understand civil engineering principles including hydraulics, hydrology, and materials in addition to roadway geometry and traffic operations. This role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to build relationships with clients in the public infrastructure practice.



Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Planning and Management: 
  • Manage project budgets and ensure timely delivery within budget constraints.
  • Monitor project progress and identify potential roadblocks or challenges.
  • Implement project management methodologies to optimize efficiency and quality.

  • Engineering Design: 
  • Provide design instructions for technicians or other engineers to deliver solutions for clients.
  • Understand typical codes and ordinances that affect design decisions.
  • Seek continual improvement personally and for other staff to be aware of emerging methods and technologies.
  • Ensure final deliverables are complete to the satisfaction of clients to encourage future opportunities.

  • Client Relationship Management: 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their specific needs and expectations.
  • Proactively communicate project updates and address client inquiries.
  • Collaborate with clients to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.


Qualifications:
  • Missouri Licensed Professional Engineer or ability to obtain licensure within 12 months.
  • Proven experience in civil engineering, with a track record of successful project delivery.
  • In-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, best practices, and design standards.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS).
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
