PermitFlowās mission is to streamline and simplify construction permitting in the $1.6 trillion United States construction market. Our software reduces time to permit, supporting permitting end-to-end including permit research, application preparation, submission, and monitoring.
Weāve raised a $31m Series A led by Kleiner Perkins with participation from Initialized Capital, Y Combinator, Felicis Ventures, Altos Ventures, and the founders and executives from Zillow, PlanGrid, Thumbtack, Bluebeam, Uber, Procore, and more. Our team consists of architects, structural engineers, permitting experts, and workflow software specialists, all who have personally experienced the pain of permitting.
The problems weāre working on are messy and complicated āĀ as is our process. Weāre looking for a high-output product designer who is comfortable with ambiguity and a fast pace of design and development. Youāll need to balance visual design, UX, and product strategy ā all while working closely with our engineering and operations team. As the second design hire, youāll have a chance to influence the shape of our brand, process, and direction for the PermitFlow application.
Weāve built a lean and highly experienced product team thus far. We value creativity, collaboration, and sincere disagreements. Youāll be expected to work closely with executives, engineers, customers, and our nationwide network of municipal experts to shape the future of construction permitting.
Dive into the world of construction permitting and learn from our internal resources and team about how permitting works. Success requires our team becoming experts in construction permitting.

Help establish our early processes that advocate for a design-centric approach
Collaborate with the sales and marketing team to produce sales collateral and branding material as needed
Help us design a really amazing permitting product that is not only beautiful, but works and scales
All applications must link to or include a portfolio. Weāre looking for your ability to craft design solutions in relevant or related product areas and an ability to deliver high-quality design thinking and product design in a fast-paced environment
4+ years of experience designing software; we're especially looking for experience with B2B products and complex workflows but any experience building software interfaces applies.
Our team primarily uses Figma, Notion, Linear. You should be comfortable with those or similar tooling.
High tolerance for ambiguity. We are moving fast, and our design, product, and engineering processes are constantly in flux. We value team members that can roll with this messiness and contribute to discussions on how to constantly improve.
Strong communication skills. Both designers and engineers and Permitflow spend time talking to internal and external stakeholders.Ā
Technical competence. You donāt need to know how to code (although itās a bonus) ā but we value the ability to effectively communicate designs and decisions with engineers. Itās certainly not a requirement for the job, but the product team is very collaborative and being able to understand technical implications and trade-offs is a valuable skill.
