· Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field (e.g. Risk Management, Security Management, Public Policy) or equivalent work experience. · 8+ years of demonstrated success and subject matter expertise in physical security, policy management, or risk management with an emphasis on the technology industry. · 5+ years’ experience in role that was heavily influenced by written communication with demonstrated written communication skills. · 5+ years’ managing Global programs/projects with both technical and non-technical individuals. · Experience with stakeholder/partner management. · Proficient in Microsoft Office applications · Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals regarding physical security standards and system designs.
The Amazon Security Special Programs Evaluations Assessments & Response (SPEAR) team is looking for an independent, highly talented, fast-paced and motivated Physical Security Build Standards Manager to join the Special Programs & Projects Team (SP2). This position is remote and can be based anywhere. The SPEAR Governance team serves as the bar raiser for the creation, sustainability, and effectiveness of the AWS Physical Security Design Standards. The objective of this team is to help drive standard work in the build process of AWS data centers. The team accomplishes this through defect identification, root cause analysis, and Corrective and Preventative Action (CAPA) establishment.
In this role, you will collaborate directly with other AWS Physical Security Teams, AWS Management, and internal customers to aid in the real-world remediation of physical security risks for existing and new AWS environments. You will accomplish this through the creation of new, and continuous review of existing, physical security design standards. You will author and publish new and updated build standards. You will stay abreast of new industry developments that will enhance the physical security footing of AWS environments to find opportunities to raise the security bar and drive down costs. A successful candidate will build collaborative relationships with the compliance/evaluation teams, business partners, legal, and technology teams as they identify emerging risks, vulnerabilities, and enhancements to existing security controls. You will also work closely with design engineers to ensure that physical security standards are easily digestible within all disciplines of design, and to ensure that design standards are followed in all milestones of design.
The ideal candidate for the role will be to work across multiple disciplines, at all levels; from physical security system engineers, to construction and implementation teams, as well as security risk managers globally. You will have an in-depth knowledge of physical security standard practices, be innovative, highly organized and know how to deliver results on time and within scope. The role may involve travel and your ability to work autonomously is essential.



Key job responsibilities
  • Partner closely with Data Center Security, Global Security Specialists, Physical Security Architects, Design Engineering, and Evaluation teams to develop, maintain, and interpret security design standards.
  • Drive the policy review process by ensuring governance documents are reviewed and updated on a defined periodic basis.
  • Conduct analysis on poorly defined policy requirements
  • Support internal customers as initial point of contact for general policy questions

The base pay for this position ranges from $127,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $210,400/year in our highest geographic market.
