About the Role
As a Principal Product Manager, you will take a strategic leadership role in shaping and executing the roadmap to enhance how customers deploy, upgrade, and manage TiDB in on-premises and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). This role requires a proactive individual who can identify long-term opportunities to improve operational efficiency, reduce complexity, and drive faster time-to-value for enterprise customers.
You will be responsible for defining the product strategy that addresses the evolving operational needs of enterprise customers. Collaborating closely with engineering, field, and customer success teams, you will ensure that improvements align with both customer priorities and business objectives. Your ability to synthesize customer feedback into a comprehensive strategy will directly influence the product’s success and operational excellence.
Responsibilities- Lead the development and execution of a long-term product roadmap that strategically improves the deployment, upgrades, and operational management of the database across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Engage with customers to deeply understand their operational challenges and long-term needs. Use these insights to drive innovative solutions that enhance deployment workflows, minimize disruptions, and optimize system management.
- Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure the successful implementation and release of operational improvements, adhering to quality standards and delivery timelines.
- Establish best practices, playbooks, and guidelines for customers to effectively operate TiDB effectively and efficiently.
Qualifications- 7+ years of product management experience, with a focus on infrastructure, cloud services, or enterprise software, including a track record of driving strategic product improvements.
- Proven experience in gathering and integrating customer feedback into long-term product roadmaps, with an emphasis on operational innovation.
- Expertise in Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms, and a deep understanding of the operational concerns of enterprise customers managing mission-critical systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Proven track record of driving product innovation, delivering customer value, and achieving business results.
$160,000 - $230,000 a year
The annual anticipated base salary range for U.S. candidates for this role is USD 160K to $230K. Four zones are applied with different levels of the pay range. More details of the Geo Differential Pay Policy will be discussed during the HR conversation. The actual individual base pay will depend on various factors such as the complexity and responsibility of the role, work locations, job levels, and relevant experience and skills. This role is also eligible to participate in PingCAP's Bonus and Equity Plan, as well as our Sales Compensation Plan if it is a sales role. In order to comply with local legislation and provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base salary ranges on all US job postings regardless of desired hiring location. Please note that actual salaries may vary and fall outside of this range depending on factors such as a candidate's qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, and competencies.
