Energy & Utilities Director, Cost & Risk Control

This role will primarily work with our Energy & Utility clients across a portfolio of major generation, transmission and distribution capital projects. The Energy & Utilities Director, Cost & Risk Control is accountable for providing oversight to an experienced cost controls team for a large portfolio of capital projects. 

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Deliver complex client work focused on: 
  • Manage a team of project controls consultants who are responsible for developing, managing updating, and analyzing project costs and a team focused on identifying and managing risks. 
  • Provide deliverable review, development and coaching to project controls resources. 
  • Oversee initial setup of large projects for project controls including accounting, estimating, and reporting. 
  • Monitor portfolio progress, including cost analysis and forecasting, manage risks, and ensure on-budget delivery, working closely with project director, enterprise program office, and executive stakeholders. 
  • Lead implementation of and adherence to standards and practices set up by the Central Program Office.   
  • Maintain a thorough, current knowledge of new and innovative techniques in the project planning, scheduling, and cost estimating fields.  
  • Ensure the quality, timeliness, and insights for key project control metrics including Earned Value, Cost Performance Index, Schedule Performance Index, project costs to date, cost variance, schedule variance, resource allocation and utilization, etc.  
  • Provide comprehensive oversight and leadership for cross-practice delivery activities, including managing day-today project operations and teams. 
  • ​Collaborate closely with business development and practice leadership to identify and scope. opportunities, develop proposals and building relationships with existing clients and new ones 
  • Lead a team of consultants, with a focus on professional development through coaching, performance management, talent planning, and succession planning, nurturing a high-performing and engaged workforce.,

  • Optimize service delivery and nurture client relationships, serving as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert in the energy and infrastructure domain. 

 

Qualifications:  

  • 7+ years of internal or external consulting experience required  
  • 5+ years of energy Industry experience   
  • 10+ years of progressive experience with project/program management and controls 
  • Experience leading teams, identifying enterprise needs, driving resolution, and holding team members accountable  
  • Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills  
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain relationships executive stakeholders (verbal and written)  
  • Track record of successfully fostering client account growth and development   
  • Proven skills in the identification and resolution of client challenges   
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, develop, and win new opportunities and hit revenue targets.

The estimated base salary range for this role is $160-220K annually. This is based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skillset and years and depth of experience. This may differ from location to location. Bonuses and other incentives are awarded at the Company’s discretion and are based upon individual contributions and overall company performance.
