WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

 

The Education & Training Specialist reports to the Senior Director of Education & Training and is a member of the Education & Training department. The Education & Training Specialist is responsible for providing training and technical assistance to youth serving adults on sexual health curricula and sex education best practices across Connecticut and Rhode Island, as well as online. The Education & Training Specialist networks to increase the impact of training programs across CT and RI. The Education & Training Specialist is responsible for the development and facilitation sex education programming to youth, parents, and adults in a variety of settings across Connecticut and Rhode Island, as well as online. This position can be based remotely, hybrid, or in an office. The Education & Training Specialist must be able to regularly travel to in-person programming and training in CT and RI in addition to occasional in-person meetings.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Provides training and technical assistance on evidence-based and evidence-informed sexual health curricula to youth serving adults and youth serving organizations.
  • Provides training on sex education best practices to a variety of youth serving adults in a variety of community settings.
  • Networks with local community and statewide organizations to identify opportunities to grow the provision of training and technical assistance in CT and RI.
  • Partners closely with Senior Director of Education and Training to implement education and training work plan in CT and RI.
  • Designs and facilitates sexual health education to diverse adult learners including parents / caregivers, K-12 teachers, adults with developmental disabilities, and staff from health care, social service, and youth-serving organizations.
  • Provides sexual health education to diverse groups of youth in an effort to support the department’s broader community education goals and remain up to date on the implementation of sexual health curricula in a variety of settings.
  • In consultation with the Senior Director, Education & Training, represents the agency on community and/or statewide committees that are aligned with or further the mission of PPSNE’s and/or the education and training department’s priorities.
  • Supports and coaches Youth Development Specialist colleagues in providing up to date content and facilitation approaches.
  • Networks with Planned Parenthood and public health colleagues and other sexual health experts to remain up to date on current trends in the sexual health field.
  • Supports data collection as appropriate to share the impact and story of sexual health training in CT and RI.
  • Supports department goals related to revenue generation.
  • Participates in SparkEd coalition to ensure high quality sexual health education and training.


KEY REQUIREMENTS
  • Passionate commitment to the mission, vision, and values of PPSNE.
  • College degree or at least four years professional experience in community education, youth development, and/or sexuality/sexual health.
  • Strong background in sexual health curricula and best practices.
  • Experience providing training and technical assistance to youth serving adults and organization on evidence-based sexual health curricula.
  • Experience developing sexual health curricula for youth and adults.
  • Experience and comfort in providing presentations and / or facilitating groups on a variety of sexual health topics.
  • Familiar with best practices in adult learning theory.
  • Experience utilizing digital platforms, such as Teams, Zoom, and Google Classrooms is strongly desired.
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with community partners and co-workers.
  • Demonstrated skills prioritizing and organizing workload with the ability to evaluate workflow systems.
  • Excellent customer service skills including recovery skills for when clients (internal or external) express dissatisfaction or problems arise.
  • Experience and comfort in working with diverse communities, specifically youth, Black, Latinx, and LGBTQ+ communities.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development to enhance facilitation skills and knowledge of topics related to human sexuality and to improve service provision.
  • Demonstrated commitment and passion for equity and inclusion and ability to apply a “race-and” lens.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be able to travel to programs, events, and meetings as required.

$21.36 - $35.60 an hour
Hourly Range; Min $21.36 Mid $28.48 Max $35.60 and is based on full years of experience. Due to our commitment to equity and fairness PPSNE does not negotiate salaries.
