Overview:
POSITION SUMMARY STATEMENT:

The primary function of the Maintenance Planner is to develop the maintenance department’s daily, weekly, monthly work plan (corrective and preventive) and schedule, coordinate, and communicate plan with manufacturing, vendors, and maintenance team to ensure on time and efficient execution of plan. The Maintenance Planner/Scheduler maintains and develops the CMMS, develops/modifies PMs, develops work packs, verifies spare parts, ensures equipment files are up to date and in order, and develops and updates departments KPIs.

DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
  • Develop daily/weekly/monthly work plan & schedule for preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, predictive maintenance, and calibrations. Notify and coordinate plan with manufacturing department vendors, maintenance team, and all other affected departments.
  • Ensures completed schedules and work orders are returned promptly and that all
    completed work orders are filled out completely by the craftsman, maintenance
    lead mechanics, and authorized contractor representatives.
  • Maintain overview of the volume of prepared corrective maintenance backlog and prioritize when to bring the work into the schedule for execution
  • Maintain overview of Preventive Maintenance schedule and ensure all work is schedule in advance of due date with maintenance team and contractors.
  • Coordinate, communicate, publish and obtain approval of the work schedule.
  • Develop work packs for maintenance jobs with necessary information to allow efficient scheduling, assignment, and execution of maintenance work. Use technical files to include information in work packs and to anticipate and avoid job delays.
  • Maintain and develop CMMS.
  • Verify spare parts inventories for plant equipment.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining library of equipment manuals.
  • Compile and present weekly Maintenance Key Performance Indicators (KPI).
  • Utilize CMMS and other computer applications to support the maintenance function.
  • Provide technical assistance as required for maintenance personnel.
  • Work with maintenance coordinator to ensure all records are filled, parts for PMs and WOs are staged & kitted, coordination with vendors for PMs have occurred to support scheduled work, maintain equipment library, and help indentify spare parts.
  • Develop and update PMs as needed.
  • Uses computer to work on multiple applications; including, CMMS, Word, Excel, Outlook to support maintenance department.
  • Develop and improve maintenance department work flow.
  • May perform other related duties as required and / or assigned.

Job Qualifications:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Skills:

  • Understand basic operation and preventive maintenance of food processing related plant equipment which includes but is not limited to motors, pumps, conveyors, pneumatics, heat exchangers, fluid systems, powder systems, steam systems, chillers, and basic electronics and instrumentation.
  • Occupational hazards and standard safety practices/precautions
  • Knowledge of nutritional/scientific terminology, food quality and safety programs
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems, Microsoft outlook, word, and excel programs
  • Read and understand equipment and technical manuals.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted during the course of assigned responsibilities
  • Good typing, data entry, computer and phone/communication skills
  • Must be able to work effectively as a team member and interact positively with all staff, clients and outside parties
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Superior attention to detail
  • Calm, flexible and efficient when dealing with multiple priorities, people and tasks
  • Uses initiative and exercises sound independent judgment
  • Must have the ability to deal with all levels of management
  • Ability to recognize, prioritize and accomplish needed tasks

  • Maintaining a clean and orderly work area
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with individuals contacted in course of work including outside vendors, contractors or suppliers
  • Need a sense of urgency in completing task and job assignments correctly, on time, the first time

Experience:
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment plus strong problem solving skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision is required.
  • A minimum of 1 year experience as a planner/scheduler
  • Must possess a strong technical background
  • Must be familiar with cGMPs & SOPs requirements from a regulated working environment.

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent supplemented by hands on or vocational school training.
