THE ROLE
The PlayOn! Sports Streaming team is looking for a Payroll Manager to oversee and supervise the payroll functions of the organization, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations. They will ensure that 401K and other deductions are accurately process and recorded. This position reports to the Chief Human Resources Officer. This position has no direct reports. This position is in the HR department and works closely with Accounting.
Additional responsibilities and accountabilities for this role include:
• Implements, maintains, and reviews payroll systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, commissions, bonuses and other deductions.
• Ensures accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
• Processes semi-monthly and ad hoc payrolls and maintains accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices.
• Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
• Identifies and recommends updates to payroll software, systems, and procedures.
• Assists accounting department with payroll related requests as needed.
THE PERSON
• Extensive knowledge of payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, exempt vs. nonexempt classifications and payroll taxes.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field required.
• At least five years of related experience required in a company with over 400+ employees.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• General knowledge of general ledger concepts is required.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Proficient with a variety of payroll software. Paylocity, Workday, UKG and Ceridian platform experience is a plus.
